Hi All,
Took some guns out to enjoy the beautiful almost spring day and brought a 500 pack of winchester xpert HV to feed them.

First round goes click... eject, rotate, pull the trigger and click again! toss it away, get 2 bangs and another click!
firing pin is making deep dents but i'm getting about a 40% failure rate. re-striking the primer didn't make any of the duds go off.
I noticed some of the rounds have the yellow/green priming compound in the lube grooves...

I had always had a couple duds and a few problems with the winchester stuff, but never anything this bad. Absolutely unusable.

does anybody have the winchester ammo complaint number or email?

Winchester anything is absolute garbage these days. I'm still bitter about boxes of expensive "self defense" ammo I bought years ago that was full of squibs. I contacted them and no one cared. Seems like others have had better luck so I hope the best for you.

I avoid anything Winchester, and Remington Thunderbolts. There are others that are mediocre, but these are at the top of my list.

Given past experiences, I avoid Winchester and Remington and I stick to CCI and Federal, plus, the pricier match/target stuff.

I will. Be interesting to hear if they say anything.
The shortage has made it up here and there's no .22 anywhere except Eley target ammo.

ive only had issues with their .22LR ammo in my semi. they run great in my bolt-action.
ive never had issues with their shotgun or handgun ammo.

I just shot some Win HV last weekend and didnt' have any issues in my Marlin Papoose. The only misfires I had were some Dominion 7.62x39 but I think it is because my rifle doesn't strike the primer hard enough.

Winchester and Remington .22 is useless. As other have stated stick with CCI, Federal, Eley, RWS, Lapua, Norma etc.

Let us know how you get on with your complaint.

Not good....I've bought a buttload of Winchester and Remingtion this past year, but have only cracked off a few Federal's from a 525 brick I've need dipping into lately. I fully expect the Remington Golden Bullets to give me a headache, but always thought the Winchester was half decent stuff. Yeah, let everyone know how you make out talking with the company. Who knows....they may do something. It's not like this stuff is super cheap anymore.

Never had a dud round of Winchester ammo but used to have trouble with case splits many years ago. My Wildcats sit in enough H2S to turn the cases black before I use them even and still no problem. Maybe it's the old Model 75 Cooey I shoot them with.

I can't speak of the HV, but I'm down to my last 4 bricks (from a case) of super X 555's and they have been great . I would happily buy more

Winchester is crap. I don't now why so many people have problems with remington. I've never had any problems with it (yes maybe a dud here and there but it's 22lr). The best by far is CCI but it's pretty dang pricey, federal is pretty dang good quality too.
