I picked up a winchester lever model 64 30-30 the other day. looking up the numbers on the computer it is 1954 manufacture. it is in pretty good shape. It is the plain jane 64 without the checkering. The blueing is about 80%. It has a redfield peep sight and a magazine tube sling swivel with a very old looking sling on it.

About the only bad is the stock has been sanded and refinished at some point, when they did that they put some coarse scratches on the metal in a few spots.

If I were to trade it off or sell it what is it worth?

64?? or 94?
well the peep devalues it a bit as they would have had to drill and tap the receiver for it.
Hard to say with out pics!!!!!!!!!!! lol
cheapest would be $500.00
If its some thing odd like a ranger they can go for up words $800.00- 1200.00

Model 64's seem to be quite rare
I've had a couple slip through my hands over the years, sold a well worn one for $600 and a decent one for $850
Are you interested in selling it? PM me if so.

for what its worth, the receiver is pre drilled and tapped for a peep sight from factory, so I think the peep actually adds some value

The model 64 Winchester was factory drilled and tapped for an aperture sight long before the 94 carbine was. A 1954 vintage 64 would have been drilled from the factory and the peep sight would ADD to the value. Photos are really necessary for any kind of intelligent estimate of value. I don't really know what this blather about a "RANGER" is, the 94 ranger was built much later and isn't worth a whole lot to a Winchester guy. The magazine tube swivel is an aftermarket addition and adds nothing as the standard model 64 had no sling swivels. Post some pics.

Your rifle looks to be in decent shape Matt, is the Redfield steel or aluminum?
How's life in Coombs?......your mom and dad seem to enjoy their visits to the Island. Cheers......Mike

Yep it's a standard model 64 with normal wear and tear, the Redfield site is not from the factory but does not devalue the rifle. Do you have the original rear sight?
Value is in the 6-800 dollar range from the photos without having it in hand.

C-fbmi is correct in the value department. In my area that rifle would fetch $750 or so. I wouldn't worry about the original sight, just a standard pre 64 rear sight. The rifle is worth more with the peep as it is not really in collector condition, just a real good woods rifle. Sling swivels are after market as well. For offhand shooting at woods ranges it is pretty hard to beat the old 64, really well balanced.
