Wincheter Model 70 Barrel Shank Threads

This is a recent CRF action.
Factory barrel.
Shank threads appear to be 28tpi.
Anyone ever heard of any other than 16tpi?

Threading was changed when FN took over, along with the MOA trigger, IIRC.

The barrel tenon change came about from the problems with chambers in the WSM rifles which were out of round. The one inch tenon just wasn't big enough when combined with the interrupted thread in the receiver (especially when the thread tolerances were on the generous side). The change to a 1 1/16' thread would have been sufficient but they went to the fine thread to provide more metal over the chamber.

You want really fine threads check out the new A-Bolts... 32 tpi.
