Trying to decide whether to head out Thursday or Friday for snow geese in Delta. Wind is forecast to be 25-35 on Thursday and 20-30 on Friday diminishing later in the day.

Periods of rain Thursday, more rain Friday.

I've been at this a few years now, but I can't say I've figured it out yet. Can we expect them to fly lower in this weather?

Wind is your friend for snow geese. You need it to get them to line up. Don't know how many decoys you are running but if you have numbers build a big head on the flock with a really long drawn out tail narrowing down to single file at the extreme end and turn it in the direction you expect them to approach from. Snows like to land at the head of the flock and play hop-scotch to overtake one another after the feed. Park your self where you can take advantage of that. Make a kill hole in the center of the head about 15 yards deep in front of you. If they do it right they will hook onto that tail end and follow it to the head usually hovering just on the far edge of the kill hole surveying it and that should put them right above you. Juvies will often tear in like Kamikazes but the adults will hang up on that wind hovering with barely any forward movement 35-50 yards high giving you almost point and shoot at them. If you have fliers put them on the leading edge of the kill hole between you and the edge of the hole. And make sure your faces are covered up. There is a lot of EXPERIENCED eyes in a flock of snows and at the first sign something is off they are out of there. We wear white camo coats and cover our heads and faces with white balaclavas.
