Sooo for the "average joe blow" shooter, what the "best bang for the buck" when it come to a Kestrel wind meter?
I would pay extra to be able to "sync" to my Android phone. Thanks

Best bang for your buck is this. Made by Dwyer.
Takes no batteries too.

There's a little Styrofoam bead in the tube that rises as the wind blows to show the wind speed.
It also does not care which direction the wind is coming from.

You will find extra Styrofoam beads all over the house for free next time you unpack something packed in Styrofoam. So don't vacuum them up.

The electronic horizontal axis fan blade models (like kestrel) need to point into the wind so you need to manage them manually.

There are some electronic models with a vertical axis fan blade that will report wind speed if you leave it on a tripod. These are nice too because you can leave it running while you shoot. (but not during a match)

One that will give you density altitude (like a 4000 model and up) would be my suggestion. I find it much more practical to just use DA and temp than have to use altitude, temp, baro pressure and humidity for a ballistic app.
