Windham Weaponry or Core15? Which one would you buy and why? They are both 16" and gas system.

P&D Enterprise has the WW $1,099 and Wanstalls has the Core15 for $1,099 (available from more retailers of course) So price isn't an issue. They both have history with the former Bushmaster factory. (Research it if you haven't already. Very interesting stuff.) I haven't had the opportunity to see either up close. I believe that the Core15 is full mil spec and the WW does use a commercial butt stock and tube.

Does the decision come down to what retailer you want to deal with because the two riffles are very similar? I will be mounting my 15" Tory Alpha rail on it so I will have to put on a low profile gas block.

Buy the one that you can get your hands on. I have handled one of the ww's at p&d, it seemed nice. I decided to do some research on it before buying one, came here and went through some threads. I decided and bought a core15 off of another cgn'r on the EE. Its a great rifle. I think this may come down to your personal choice. I can remember when p&d had racks full of rifles, its getting pretty sparse now so it might be a good idea to buy while there avaliable. I like the milspec aspect of the core15, now I am starting to look at the .300blk upper that wantsalls has.

Tough choice if I were faced with it.

Choice would be where you get either rifle from and the customer service you would receive as support.

I've handled both. Rands and I've shot the Core15. IMHO the Core15 fit and finish is superior to the WW. I wouldn't say they was anything wrong at all with the WW... The Core15 just feels tighter

I was faced with the same dilemma a couple of months back... I was leaning towards the WW before going to Wanstalls. Once I got there and handled both rifles I bought the CORE15... I found the fit and finish superior to the WW. Their service is EXCELLENT BTW...

Only caveat is your desire to use your rail... Both rifles get great reviews, so why buy something you know you are going to have to mess with?

I echo the suggestion to get what you can get now... They keep saying supply of American ARs won't be effected, but I confirm that on-the-shelf stocks at most LGS seem to be a little sparse... Might be awhile before the insanity Down South calms and things get back to normal...

Good luck!

BTW: if you are at Wanstalls they can tell you about their tour of the CORE production facility in Ocala, FL. They were very impressed with the quality control and production measures... I think the attention to detail shows up in the finished product.

I just put 100 rnds of rem .223 bulk and 100 rnds of american eagle through my core15, using 7 different mags, not one fail to feed and not one fail to fire, my sister shooting for the first time, girl friend shooting the rifle for the first time, at 100m the targets looked like we shot them with a shot gun from 10 feet. We had a great time. Took some fiddling to get on target but this was an issue between my girlfriend using the spotting scope and telling me I was shooting left when I was shooting left. The girls loved the rifle, my sister for shooting a rifle bigger then a .22lr enjoyed it fully. I am very happy with the core15.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I know, I've gone back and forth several times on my build. I'm going to build this riffle (or close to it):

I priced it out to build it piece by piece, plus AR tools and it's too expensive. Trying to build with a small-ish budget. Buying the Core15 and using my Troy rail is the cheapest way to go. I've also found that I can't find all the parts form one dealer, so I run into extra shipping costs for parts from multiple dealers. Plus part availability can be a pain in the butt with back ordered items.

In the end it would be nice to have a riffle with matching parts. I'd like to think of value for resale (not that I'd ever want to sell it) would be higher/more desirable than a frankengun.

Your profile shows that you're in Alberta - Calgary Shooting Centre had some Core15 in stock this week, if you're close enough to Calgary and want to try one on.

Thanks for the info. I'll try to get up to Calgary and have a look!

The CORE product comes in a piston version if that's an option for ya?

If I had the extra cash I would consider it. My current Colt HBAR is gas and I love it. I've had it for 10 years, I've probably put over 5000 rounds through it (for 10 years that's not very much, I guess) and I've never had a failure of any kind. The gas system runs like a dream and the 20" barrel is crazy accurate. I haven't shot any piston ARs yet, but I would like to add one to my collection one day.

Another question. I am going to be putting on my GRIFFIN M4 SD II FLASH COMP. Do either of these riffles have the muzzle break pinned and welded?

You'll enjoy it. I have both a windham .223/556 and a core15 300aac blackout. Both are well built and both havent failed me yet

Also neither of them have pinned flash hiders

It was a very hard decision, but I ended up placing my order with Wanstalls for the Core15 M4 Riffle (Gas). Now the waiting game! :HFU:

Between those two that was probably the best decision. If nothing else just for the 1:7 twist barrel vs the 1:9 of the WW. Although both are fine and I have a couple with the 1:9 twist. But still if going for the current barrel specs 1:7 is it.

I faced similar choice recently and chose the WW, as it has the railed gas block. To me that meant more choice as the fixed front sight on the Core would limit what I could do with that real estate.

The rear stock is cheapish, but no different than any other in that price range. And that's easy enough to fix. Other than that, very happy with it so far.
