Windham Weaponry

Well, thanks for the opinions guys. I think I'll buy one and give it a try. Maybe do a range report or something in the future if one hasn't been done already. Like I said, I really like my Bushmaster rifle that I bought 5 years ago which was produced in the Maine factory.
It is, after all, only a paper puncher so as long as it stands up to 5000+ rounds with only the wear and tear related problems that any other quality AR would see and some occasional 3-gun shooting I would be happy.

@Mirk no problem hearing the con's at all, in fact it's an important part of understanding any rife, and no issue with you or what you said at all. You said you wouldn't bet a person's life on one, I only pointed out that there are those in LE that do and as fenceline pointed out that means almost nothing to most of us here. :)

I think fenceline actually pointed out that just because some people in law enforcement do bet other peoples lives on them it is not necessarily a wise decision. I believe the rest was implied when I made my original post.

I don't think the OP is planning on betting his life on his WW. It's an AR. He lives in Canada. So do you. They're all paper punchers regardless of how much you paid, or overpaid, for your paper puncher. I have a mid level Armalite. It punches paper every bit as well as an LMT, Noveske, etc... I'm sure the WW would as well.

Not meaning to side-track this fine thread, but could any Windham owners comment on the condition of the brass after firing ?
Reason being I've reloaded 223 since the late 60's, still load for four 223s and I'm wondering if the fired brass is reloadable as I have my Dillon 550 set up for 223.
It doesn't take me very long to run off a bunch of loads and I have two or three pails of brass on hand as well as lots of components.
Years ago I had an AR 180 B and it was hard on brass, beating it up bad enough so that two reloads were the limit.

So far...all the WW's have sold been problem free. If you have heard the whole story on how the Freedom Group (who bought Bushmaster) didn't live up to expectations, it's nice to see a company come back and compete again against them (after the non compete clause expired)in a very competitave area. Good product from good people. Phil.

Got one from SFRC last year. Have put 2k rds through it without a problem. Accurate. I would not want to be in a situation where my life was on the line but if I was, this is the rifle I would want to defend myself.

Brass comes out looking like it was fired from any decent AR.

A piston gun thats hard on brass? Next you will be saying the 180 is hard on bolts.

I beg your pardon ??? Next I'll be saying what ?
I don't care what your AR 180 does to brass, that is if you have one.... my AR 180 was a damnsite harder on brass than my SP1.
At least it was still reloadable after a few firings out of my old Colt.....

seems just fine out of mine. no oddball shapes or dings in the throat area, no scratches or dents or anything. the empties look just like the full ones minus the bullet and the firing pin ding.

you'll love it. Well, unless you are used to the $3500 ones, maybe it will seem a bit lacking compared to those.

I suspect its more accurate than me and I am not a horrid shot.

plus, and I can't get over this, fully transferrable lifetime warranty.

I'm already impressed as I had a table at the Kamloops Gun Show and the kind folks at the P&D table allowed me to look one over carefully.
And for that reason I bought from them, great folks to do business with....

I bought mine from them too. I was in Deadmonton and I swung by with a buddy. Great place, awesome service and a sweet rifle. I could have EASILY dropped 20 large in there and still left wanting more.

2 or 3 ARs, a KSG, couple of 1911s, other handguns, a couple of regular shotguns, an SVT40 or two, and SR22, an M14, a 10/22, piles of ammo and mags and optics and reloading stuff etc etc.

That I left with only the AR and some mags etc, I am amazed.

You brought up the comparison to the 180 and how hard they are on brass.

I just bought a WW SRC, waiting for all the Registration and Att to go through. everything i have heard sounds very positive. it will be my first rifle :)
