I handled my first wingmaster this week and fell in love. what a difference from the express. I was wondering if anybody could comment as to whether 870 express barrels are interchangable with the wingmaster? Probably go to hell for doing it but I was thinking it might be nice to switch out to a short barrel for turkey hunting.

Not a problem at all, just go with the newer style mag cap to keep it tight pending the year of your wingmaster. I use an express barrel on an old 1959 and it works great.;)

thanks 3macs, I am looking at buying a new wingmaster - would the end cap be the right style?

I would say yes but I am not 100% sure since I only have one newer wingmaster made in 2000 or 2002 which was a 3 1/2" special run and all the rest I have are 50's-late 70's.
Even if it is not you can get by with a o- ring also to tighten it up.
There are posts here somwhere on the site with pics that show both nut styles.

Me too. What a beautiful gun. I have an old wingmaster that I love, but I want interchangable chokes. Looking at todays offerings in the shotgun section make s me want to puke and my own safe is no better. For the same price I can get a camo semi auto that shoots 3.5" so we'll have to see.

I've been fondling different shotguns for a while now and just loved the wingmaster when I picked it up. I wasn't looking to shoot 3.5's so it's perfect for me. I've got a new one coming with 26" barrel that I can't wait to get my hands on!
