Winnipeg Hungry M14 Clinic Sat 04 Apr 2009 Debrief Here!

Okay, March will soon be over. I'm just in the packing process for the road trip to Ottawa this coming weekend.

I've booked my flight to Wpg for the Fri 03 April. Yeeha! We are getting closer and closer.

Ok, I have the wrench just have to make sure it fits. The c clamps I have are only 3" will they work. Everything is falling into place.

C clamps ? Okay, I won't haul mine... I just gotta remember not to pack them along. Note to self:rolleyes: ...... I'll also leave my receiver wrench at home. Too heavy to fly with.

Anything else you need Hungry? I've been trying to get a welder together but I don't think its gonna happen. Do you wanna chop some barrels at this one? If so let me know what we will need to do it and I'll see what I can get together.

PS everyone should give Fire a huge thank-you cause he has contributed a lot to making this happen, really without him it would be difficult to get it off the ground.

We have to establish if we have a big heavy vise for any rebarreling / re-indexing projects, then I can confirm whether I should fly with my steel vise jaw blocks. Damn, they are sure heavy.

Sure we can chop barrels if you happen to bring a chop saw, but let's canvass this attendance list to see if it's even worthwhile. For example; the Burlington Clinic... we hand no indication that anybody wanted to chop a barrel and we did not do that operation.

We willl definately have a vice. I am just not sure which one it will be yet as we have several portable workstations at our shop. I will be grabbing the best one/two available and getting them out to Selkirk.

I would be interested in chopping my barrel to 18.5, and then putting the stock flash hider/front sight back onto it, if that's something we can do at this clinic. Looking forward to seeing you guys in a couple weeks.

We can do barrel chops at the clinic but there will be no facilities for rethreading the barrel for a flash hider or recrowning the barrel. You will still need to get a gunsmith or a machinist involved to do that.

Well my M14 sold quickly, but I still have the ammo and once fired (80 piece) brass.

$30 for the ammo
$15 for the brass

I'll bring it up the the clinic is anyone is interested...

So Hungry can you give us an idea of what will be covered in this clinic and let us know if there is anything else you'll need?

As you have read already in the first page, the morning from 0900 to 1030 will be about stripping down the boomstick and pointing out pitfalls and some tweaks. We will spend 1030 until 1130ish / noonish reassembling and doing tests for assembly, safety, function, fit and how to determine future (all afternoon) tweaks that will be needed.

The afternoon is going to be all hands on. Many of you have read the feedback discussed by M14 clinic attendees (November 08 Edmonton, Jan 09 Barrie, Feb 09 Burlington, Mar09 Ottawa) during their debriefs; they all loved the way we set up centers for particular tweaks , remember: I'm a teacher, this is what I do for a day job. ;) People will participate tweaking their own boomsticks on their own time and comfort level. Many tweakers then become coaches/instructors for the next tweaker so that all of you will not only carry out the accurizing, BUT you will also know how to EXPLAIN the procedure.

Remember that I ain't gonna live forever, so I gotta pass on this knowledge while I'm still alive and kickin' ;)

So, we got the big basterd vise and workbench for any rebarreling ? I've got the vise jaw blocks... who's got the receiver wrenches (that are too heavy for me to fly with)??

We got a welder happening ?

Is there anyone out there who needs rebarreling ?

Time to do a last minute inventory of large scale tools and machinery.....

Gotta bed down now , it's after 0200 in the AM. :ninja:

We have the bench and vise being delivered to site friday night. I have the 1 3/4 inch wrench from Pa, some 3 inch C clamps and a drill/bits. The Welder is a no go from me anyways as ours are still up north. I will also bring as many other miscilaneous tools as i think might help out. Anyone have any shim stock.

Fire: That's great. So I don't need to bring my receiver wrenches. Yes, I have all the shim stock you will ever need. Bought a shztload with some extra money from past clinics. I'm also bringing a pile of syringes ($2.00) for greasing your M14's and also your other boomsticks. This is getting exciting.

We'll be able to have all the M14 clinic attendees bang out piles of their own shims (8 thou thick).

Yahooo.
