So after having many cancelled hunts since fall for Geese, Ducks, Deer and Coyote, I finally decided to go out by myself as everybody else keeps either having thier truck breakdown, get stuck at work or end up sick.

This was my first day out hunting. Went to my friends Dads farm with over a 100 acres of mixed land, its got a few streams, some forest and some field.

Had to walk alittle bit to get into the forest areas, the temperature was about -15 with some wind.

After falling through the ice in the creek, I can safely state that my Danner boots are in fact water proof... :p

Bunny hunt

Sounds and looks like my hunt last weekend. Oh well it was a nice morning for a walk in the woods. Lots of tracks and bunny holes but nothing to shoot at.

were a but are you it looks as thow there should be a few bunnys around there . see if you can find someon with some bunny dogs and invite them for a hunt other then that you have to jump on every brush pile you see even the small piles from blow over weeds with snow pile on top can hold rabbits . you have to remember that in day light bunnys are hiding from hawks and other animlas so you have to rutt them out beagels are the answer for bunny hunting DUTCH

A guy from my work knew I was going out, he went out the same day in a different area and got 3...

Im thinking I need more practice at his ;)

If theirs any brush piles, kick em and shake em. Same goes for anything else that might have a rabbit hiding under it, including old cars or farm equipment.

Yeah I tried that. I need to bring somebody along to jump up and down on the crap to flush out the dinner.

what area are you in? i'd gladly show you the ropes and be your dog for the day to kick up some bunnies for you to shoot. it's way easier learning from someone in person compared to reading about it online or in magazines. once you get "the eye" for finding good spots you'll start seeing more bunnies.;)

send me a pm if interested...

I aint no hunter, yet....
I've heard folks mention many times to shake the bush to flush the rabbits out.
Can one fire some .22 rounds into the suspected bushes? Wouldn't that be a bit easier to flush? Or would that not scare them enough?
Again, I've never been out yet, hopefully this year. Just curious.

Nothing wrong with getting someone to push the bush for you, I have done it hundreds of times. You just follow the rules and don't shoot the other guy.

Looks like a great day to be out, I always say there is nothing like taking your gun out for a walk.
