winter hunting in NWT

Hi,
I will be in Yellowknife NWT next February and March.
Do you know of any hunting (Big or small game) done during that time of the year ?

resident hunters can still hunt wolves, wolverine (provided you have tags) and small game, wolf numbers are up and tons of birds around

But it takes two years before your considered a resident for hunting....

The icefishing is great. You should do some of that. I can't remember the season dates, but small game may be a possibility. Check out the territorial government webpage. There is tons of info there on hunting and species available.

If you go snowmobiling, you will see tons of ptarmigan; maybe a few spruce grouse. Icefishing though, you should get lots of lakers or pike.

I have just arrived this afternoon in Yellowknife dressed for -50 and it was a warm -8.
Looking forward to go fishing and hunting.

Hey
If your non resident the only thing you can really do is go small game hunting. I'd say go ice fishing. Its always fun and if you hit the right spots you won't be disappointed.
