Winter season shooting.

In...side...?

Nope. Not here. My range only has outdoor facilities, but we only get a few weeks a year where the mercury drops below 0.

We have a wood stove at the Rifle Range, but its only allowed to be used during sanctioned events, too many yahoos throwing #### into the fire when there isn't any supervision...

I'll shoot any day it gets above -18C, rain or shine. I love the challenge of keeping up with the shifts as the barrel and scope cool. Parallax drifts and carbon rings grow fast. The cold, dry air is denser so the wind has greater effect. There is barrel mirage(fuzziness) and range mirage causing aiming errors. It sucks when it is snowing and everything has to get dried out afterward. The worst is when a wind gust avalanches all the snow out of the tree I'm set up under. Pictures from a couple days ago ... tame yer envy. I'll be shooting off the snow till late April.

EDIT Just scored todays F Class target and am attaching the group that results when the eight five shot/bull 'groups' are overlain.

Shooting from a window at my club, have a stove in the building but just good if your 10ft from it, just have to dress properly to enjoy shooting with the place for ourself when temp hit below 20 celcius.

The range I use has a 'cabin' but shooting from it is not allowed. We can take Buddy-heaters to the stands, if the wind doesn't blow it out HA. I can't use a 5-6-oz trigger with heated gloves 😦

Shoot year round outdoors. It’s not so bad. Colder than -20 and I just stay home generally but other wise dress warm and I’m good for an hour or so.

There seems to be limited enthusiasm for cold weather endurance sports. Anybody still fishing, shots from this afternoon. My personal best is ten days between the last fish caught out of a boat(kayak) and the first fish caught thru the ice on the same lake.

In my previous post I forgot to mention learning about how wind flags react by comparing them to the snowflakes moved by the same wind. When I started out I used to put flags outside the windows of the house to study.

Still am although it's one our last times. We kayak fish, I have a wetsuit usually although this year I can barely fit in it... :ROFLMAO: Don't want to push it.

Mission 10/200 M. rimfire is shot every month.
It is a sanctioned event and membership is not required.
When the temperature drops we have authority to use the stove and that is welcome.
Hand warmers and the small electric heaters keep your ammunition hard or keep your mags in your shirt pocket . . . close to your heart.
