I have a low wall rimfire, it needs rebarreled. I could put another rf on or move the firing pin and make it a cf. I have a couple 22 hornets so thought maybe a 218 bee or Mashburn. Not sure I want to load 17s like 17 hornet. What do you see as a good project? AJ

It all depends on what your ultimate intention for the gun would be. The Low Wall matched with a Gaillard rimfire barrel would sure be interesting, if you wanted the most accurate rimfire on the block. Back in 1970 something or other, I recall seeing a Martini Cadet that was chambered for the .17 K Hornet, something along those lines would be pretty cool if you went the centerfire route. Along Brybenn's line of thought, a .32-20 would be an interesting small rifle, but a .218 would be more performance orientated.

I went the other way and built a 6mm hornet on a little rimfire Martini. Moved the firing pin and it worked quite well. Fun little cartridge with all the bullet weights to play with.........55-115 grns I think.

What powder are you using in the 6 hornet? This will be a gopher gun probably, and just a fun gun. Super Cub you may be right, if I sold all the excess I might shoot more! A few more trips to the gopher pasture this year!! All the talk of K Hornet and 17 Hornet has me thinking, always a dangerous thing. Thanks AJ.

I sold a lot of stuff I wasn't using in the 18months and still have a bit more to go. This included guns/loading components/parts/scopes/etc. Seems a bit crazy after a while buying all these rifles and only using one or two on a reg basis. I think I have 15 long guns and a couple 6 shooters. 3 or 4 to go, maybe 5.

I did the same thing over the past 2 years. Down to 8 guns and holding. Only essential, time-honoured, proven calibres in my safe.

I was using Win 680.........don't have the gun anymore, lost it in a plane crash........some f**k stole it from the crash site. I built it for a survival rifle for my plane, hollowed out the butt and was able to hold 100 rounds in it. Had a 16" barrel and Rem 700 sights on it, I could hit a bush bunny at 100 mtrs with it. I loaded Speer 90 gn FMJs and they shot under 2" with the irons..........but alas it is water under the bridge now.

I always wanted a 32-20 and having acquired one, they are a pretty neat caliber. Should be a low pressure deal and they are quite capable at dispatching gophers; surprisingly so, with rather spectacular results.
I've a 22 Hornet, but they are a PITA to reload for compared to the 32-20.
