Good luck. It's pretty easy. Just don't point the gun at the instructor. One of the guys in my group did.

Make sure you know how to put the safety on a single action revolver (pull back the hammer carefully 2 CLICKS only!) If you pull too fast you'll hit the third click and that would be cocking it to fire instead of the safety. Easy to do if you don't mess around with single action revolvers much.
Also with the single action revolver with the loading gate, you have to spin the cylinder around more than just six clicks worth. This ensures that you haven't miscounted the number of chambers and missed one.
Ya the wadcutter got me too.
Everything else is child's play.

I don't know for sure I would not mind a .357 Magnum, S&W for starters, then maybe a .22.

Get a .22 first, then move to the larger calibers.
They're cheaper to feed while you learn proper handgun control.

ahhh, it's easy as cake. The first time I've ever handled a restricted was at my restricted challenge test, and I passed no problem.
