Been reloading for about a year or so,and recently started shooting hand gun more frequently. Having a little trouble keeping up with my Lee O frame and was thinking of upgrading to progresive press? Hopfully some thing that can handle rifle as well? Any advise would great!

1st question is what calibers do you plan on reloading?
2nd How much are you willing to spend?
3rd How fast do you want to reload?
All these dictate what press I recommend.

check out the latest turret press from "Lee".
this link will explain....

if you also go to Lee's website, they have couple of good video's that will show you how it works & set-up procedure....
one of the great things about it is, you can buy the turrets & set up your dies for loading a certain cartridge, remove & install another for loading a different one without having to readjust each die. this saves time! Lots of folks including myself are liking it.

I still have my rock chucker from RCBS, but it's not getting much use these days....

Looking to load handgun 38 S&W,9mm luger. In rifle 303British,6.5Carcano,22-250.Will be shortly getting to 308,204 ruger. pretty much outfitted with lee die's and well everything else(the price seemed nice!and Higgensons is fairly close.)The press dosn't have to be Lee, looking in the $300-$600 range.Looking to load about 200 rounds an hour. Not sure if this is too much to ask. But I'm asking anyway.

For the 38 and 9mm I would go with a Lee Pro 1000 or another comparable progressive press. With the Lee 4 tube brass feeding kit and 4 tube bullet feeding kit you can load 4 - 500 per hour. One other thing about Lee is it’s easy to set up and operate, unlike some others.
As for the rifle if you want accuracy stick with the lee O frame and weigh each powder charge, if not buy the shell plates for the progressive and have at it.
I have 5 different presses, a Dillon 650 for 45acp ($1200 to set up in 1 caliber, $160 for each additional caliber), Pro 1000 for 9 & 38 & 357($300 to set up, $45 for each additional caliber), Lee 4 hole turret for reloading test loads ($130). A Lee Challenger press for all my rifle reloading in 3 calibers and Mec 600 Junior for shotgun.
I started out with just the Lee O press and now have 5. Then I went out and bought 8 Lee 6 cavity bullet molds and 20 pound melting pot to make my own bullets. Have fun!

I have had great luck with the Dillon 550 for reloading both pistol and rifle for the last 10 years or so.
I had a lee progressive. Did not suit my needs.

I use a Lee classic cast for my single stage rifle reloading, and a Loadmaster for pistol ammo. I'm going to try loading 223 on the loadmaster as well. I'm pleased with both tools, and you can't beat the value of Lee products.

Before the Dillon snobs speak..... Buy whatever YOU can AFFORD. They are all good.

A Lee Turret is a little short and you have to turn the turret manually for some longer rifle rounds. But the Loadmaster works great for fast changes between rifle and handgun rounds.

I like my Dillon 550 but I use Lee powder measures on it as well as Lee dies. It is also possible to use the Lee measure that has the crank handle (that I use for rifle) on a progressive press. I had Lee 1000's and they loaded faster than the Dillon but the Dillon seems more solid, easier to change calibers and I got a deal. All shoots the same.

The choice really depends on the amount of ammo you require.

I used to load on two Lee Pro 1000's but have changed to the Lee Classic Turret. Nothing wrong with the Pro 1000, but it does require a certain level of mechanical ability with the primer feed process.
The Classic Turret is a solid press that works well & meets my needs (about 200 rounds per week) It is a pleasure to use

If you are going through a sh-t load of ammo I would suggest a Dillon 650.:D
