Any of you managed to put together a witness-protection style shotgun with a 14" barrel (Norinco HP-9 / Rem 870), that isn't shorter than the 26"/660mm minimum overall length for non-restricted?

By my math, it looks like this might be around half-an-inch too short ...

Maybe a +2 magazine extension would provide the required length... (or would that be a bad idea...)

you may be OK woth the arrangement on top. the Choate pistol grip comes up 1/2 inch too short. but the grip picture may be OK

I don't think using a mag extension would qualify - or at least , i don't have the $$ to test the theory in court.

the knoxx arrangement seem really cool & is certainly long enough.

the top one is ok, I ordered one from gord at milarm for my norinco and a year later he tells me, sorry man cant get it, seemed to me like it never got ordered, i did calculate the grip length and the gun and it worked......looks great too, where can you actually get one of thoses little grips

goto ( www.mdcharlton.ca ) IT 'S on page 138 of their catalog. They are a police supplier and I don't know if they sell these parts to non-police. But in the past I have purchased 870 parts from them and they list holsters and accessories for guns, CANADIAN POLICE don't usually carry.

I've got a speedfeed(witness protection) pistolgrip on my Mossberg and I really like the way it handles. It feels like a traditional stock, works well with the mossberg tang safety, and shoots nicely. Because of the angle of the grip they are longer then other pistol grips and I believe you will be right around 26+ inches for overall length. I got mine from Charlton and they were good to deal with but it only comes as a kit with the forend included and it's around $75.00 if memory serves. The only thing I didn't like with the grip is it's a little slippery but I cut a bike tube to fit and stretched it over the grip and it's much better. If Speedfeed ever colloborated with Hogue for an over-mold of rubber on this grip it would be perfect, but the bike tube works pretty good :D

Why not build it on an 18 incher ? no matter what you do witht he stock you should have a bit of a safety there ... And adding an extended mag tube for an extra 1 or 2 rounds can't be that bad either.

I think the idea is to get it as close to the limit as possible. I don't think I need more then 5 slugs in my gun to feel safe in the woods. Carry more on your belt and your good to go. Obviously a large calibre revolver would be great and that's what I would carry if I could.

But we're pussy-whipped (read "Liberal") Canucks so we can't.
I like Nine's pistol grip idea. Sweet. But couple that with some of the other ideas and you can meet the retarded requirements, regardless.
Retarded requirements, regardless - oh my!
Retarded requirements, regardless - OH MY!
The new "3 R's"... :p

The one shot extention comes up to the end of the barrel, so it's no help. I believe the 2 shot extention adds nearly 3 inches past the muzzle. It would satisfy the OAL requirement, but look like your gun took ######.
