hey fellas I've heard of a ol wives tale about the kimber montana, perhaps kimber in general...... along the lines of Switching barrels over, that a Kimber barrel will screw on to line up with the extractor groove? i think, with minimal fuss.
Is this correct and what does this mean to the ol deer hunter with a 7mm-08 chambered rifle and a 308winchester barrel in the cupboard?

Thanks!
WL

I’m not 100% sure what you’re asking. I have had a takeoff barrel installed on a Kimber action. The gunsmith had to take a little bit of meat off the shoulder of the barrel to get the extractor groove to line up. I don’t suspect it was much as he only chargers me 1hr labour for the whole ordeal.

That is not a wives tale and it is also not true... no barrel can be guaranteed to line up the extractor slot... if you do not have the DIY skills to properly set back the barrel tenon or shoulder, you would be best to hire a competent machinist/gunsmith.
