I have been looking at scope options for this rifle and am leaning toward an illuminated 1-8x. What are opinions on the Vortex Strike Eagle, Primary Arms, and Falcon S8i?

I'm open to other suggestions as well. This will be used for punching paper and plinking. I have a set of Magpul Pro’s on the way already.

Thanks!

I’m going to wait and see how it shoots with what ammo and go from there. Initially it will wear a higher power variable for accuracy testing. I can see the attraction of keeping it light though, so maybe a low powered fixed or small 1-4 variable?

I like the idea of an illuminated variable power. Is 1-8 a bit much? Most suggestions so far seem to favor lower magnification. I suppose there will be a bit of wait and see before we know what they will shoot like.

Depending how much bulk in physical size and weight you want to deal with from your optic.
Generally, simpler scopes are lighter and smaller.
I have a new Sightron S-Tac 1-8 that I’ve yet to get to the range with. It is both big and heavy.

The three 1-8’s I listed are all around 16-17 ounces. Even some of the 1-4’s I see are in that range (the Hi-Lux CMR 1-4 is listed at 17.1 oz). The Strike Eagle 1-8 is actually shorter and lighter than their 1-6 version. A red dot would definitely lower the weight but without the magnification (some have 3x).

I’m not really sure what I would be comfortable with. I guess it’s more a question of whether 8x is unnecessary on a 2 moa rifle. I’m also not looking to break the bank on a $1K rifle.

so which one did you go with? I'm thinking of the falcon s8i cause of the price, my thinking is 1-4 belong on rimfire

I put a Nikon 3 x9 Prostaff on my wk 180. It shoots quite well. As long as you pay attention to the paralax and keep the scope shadow even it can hit a 12" plate at 400 yds very consistently .

It was difficult finding a mount with enough rise to clear the 50mm objective. Over all results were good!

I've really liked the vortex spitfire 3x's I've had. Great glass for the price. I put one on my wk180 and I have no complaints.
