2MOA? I can't personally see any benefit to more than about 4x magnification. A gun of this accuracy, and chambered in this cartridge, is going to serve me as a coyote gun, and won't be used much beyond 200 yards. When mine shows up it may well wind up with a 2-7x on it, but only because I have a bunch of them laying around doing nothing. If I were to buy a scope for it, a fixed 4x, without AO or illumination or Christmas tree reticles, would be my choice.

Yes, higher magnification makes it easier to hit small targets at longer range. But coyote-sized targets at sub-200-yard ranges...with a gun that's expected to shoot a 4-inch group at those distances...just don't call for bigger, heavier, more powerful or more complicated scopes than fixed 4x's...or even 2.5x's. If I want to shoot at longer-range targets with this gun (doubt that I will...), they will be gongs or home-made paper targets with at least an 8-inch bull, which will work beautifully with a low-power scope.

Longer-range coyotes? I want a different gun. Smaller targets, like ground squirrels? Okay, unless they are far off; then, I want a different gun. Deer? Different gun, absolutely.

This isn't a do-everything, general-purpose hunting rifle, which might utilize a bit more magnification at times. It is a fun gun, displaying mediocre accuracy and chambered in a round that isn't ideal for long-range varminting. A 10-30x56mm scope with focussing objectives, batteries, a complicated reticle and a name nobody can pronounce won't change that.

Yes, I won’t likely be springing for one of those nice higher power leupolds. Having more than 4x is a nice luxury but certainly not required. If you go for 8 X great, certainly not overkill. For the money 4X does the job on a gun like this.

I think a 1-4 might be better suited. Less money too. Cheers

This has been seen in another thread but I feel it should be shown here also as it pertains to driller's idea above.

What stock is this? I'll be doing that for mine. Is it a folding stock? just looks like something a Colombian rebel will go with :D
