Better but not as good as the Galil style.
 
Does the Galil mount the same as an AK stock? if so an AK stock adapter would open a lot more options and would allow WK180C users get away from the AR-15 tube style stocks.

1. Remove Ambi-Function by eliminating left side cutouts - requires no additional work - just removal of the feature in machining code.
2. Have right side eject with left side charging. Would just require the elimination of bolt charging handle on the right side after ejection port - requires no additional work - just removal of the feature in machining code.
3. Upgrade to better stock trigger. If I can purchase one for 80 dollars retail you should be able to do it for 30-40 dollars or less (as you buy in volume). Note - I'm not talking about cassette type trigger packs - just a decent two stage military type with a pre-travel that doesn't feel like you are trying to pull a railway tie with your teeth through a gravel parking lot during a dust storm.
4. Removal of slop between upper an lower via tensioning spring loaded ball end set screw.

I just received my rifle yesterday and am pretty impressed. Fit and finish is nice. Just can't stand the movement between the lower and upper. Note - I have numerous AR-15's and they bug me to.

If you look at #118 in the thread Mr. Wolverine asks what other improvements we might want to see when asked what else is down the pipe.
Took it as an open invitation to add some other improvements as the stock looks to have been settled.
If I am wrong you are free to ignore my comments.

I'm not a fan of folders in the first place. But that looks bulky and heavy, two things I don't like on rifles. +7 or +8 (whatever we're up to) for the Galil type.

John replied to a comment asking what improvements could be made in general, several pages back. He asked what specifically we thought could be improved in general.

The only improvement I can see is ditching the piston so we can use off the shelf barrels. There is not much use to the barrel being compatible with an AR15 barrel extension if we need 18.6" barrels for NR and no one readily makes 18.6" barrels in a carbine gas system (required by the WK180c piston). This means any barrel for the WK180 needs to be custom made, which defeats the purpose of adopting a mil-spec barrel trunnion. In addition, if a DI gas system were adopted, we would be able to use standard handguards, instead of the select few handguards which have enough clearance to fit the WK180 piston system (not even the stock handguard reliably clears the piston system, leading to reports of poor accuracy).

DI gas is plenty reliable. The Ljungman, Hakim, Rasheed, Mas49 have all implemented it successfully.

I like the lines and simplicity of the zhukov stock via a new adapter. Remember Ockham's Razor: When confronted with two or more equally viable choices, the simplest is always the best. As per the other comments about improvements, Imar is right on. Make changes to the upper receiver block. Have it left charging and right ejection or visa versa for the mutants of the world. We all know that gun stores don't make a lot on selling rifles, so a good business model would be to keep the consumer coming back for improvements. (Phase One): new folding stock. (Phase Two): purchase new upper receiver (include a plastic vise block) that is either right or left friendly and get rid of the open ambi-receiver. (Phase Three): New bolt with bolt charging handle positioned as far forward as possible to reduce the size of the channels. (might be difficult for the left side charging because of the location of the pivot pin). Maybe redesign the charging handle similar to the original A model. (Phase Four): New barrel with rifle length gas piston. Give the option of having it with a front sight on the gas block or without. Maybe the option of a collar attachment points for aftermarket fore-stocks, or make a hand-guard that doesn't rub the gas block. This would permit access to the gas piston from the front of the hand-guard. (Phase Five): Adjustable gas piston. This rifle could keep us coming back for more. The alternative is just to leave it stock and save your money for buying ammo. Either way it's all good. Just my two cents. Can't wait for this thing to arrive.
 
Sorry got on a rant there. Don't get me wrong, I love the concept of this Canadian utility rifle and I appreciate the effort that John and the people at Kodiac have put forth in its creation. Regarding the original question asked by John: Not a fan of that stock. It's big, and the lines don't suit the rifle. I wouldn't buy it.
 
I was on the fence about adding a folder but now that I have my 180 I notice even with the stock buttstock at the most collapsed position the OAL is 37". That's too long for most "tactical" size hard-cases. I have the Cabela's hard cases which are 36" inside length.

I've already ordered a ARFX-E stock for this gun, so I guess I'll be experimenting with one of those LAW Tactical hinges. Probably try a Chinese knock-off since it doesn't have to endure the punishment of a cycling bolt.
 
Not a bad design. Too much “cladding” to break up the flat surfaces for my tastes... looks too “FAB Defence” and not enough “MagPul”.

Too long for me personally. I like my stocks short on these types of rifles. Get right up in it!

Just my opionon.

Based on this feedback we have decided to place this stock design on hold, we will not be developing it at this time. We do have one prototype that will be coming here so I can do an assessment and I will post a report. We may consider using this stock design on other projects in the future but it is simply not cost effective to manufacture her in small numbers.

We will be developing a Galil type folding stock for the WK180-C.
