WK180-C Sold 1,000 in 75 hours

I think the AR15 is going to go the way of the dodo bird here in Canada with all these awesome options coming out for the Canadian market. It is awesome to see Canadian made for Canadians come out. No import BS, no craziness.....just solid Canada.

I don't have the money right now for one, so I did not order. But I congratulate you, Sir. If anyone in the firearms community deserves a "jackpot" like this, it's you.

I'm happy to have put my name on one of the first 1000, but the AR-15 is still a superior firearm in every aspect. You can't compete with 55yrs of field use and continual improvement. I doubt the AR will be dethroned in competitive or tactical circles anytime soon. However, it's always nice to have more NR options in Canada, especially from Canadian manufactures. Selling 1000 units in 75hrs is telling of just how thirsty the Canadian market is. That being said, the demand for all of these niche NR rifles would dry up immediately if the AR-15 was ever re-classified to NR status. Unfortunately, I doubt we'll ever see that which is why its great to have options like this.

I am not really disagreeing with you that the AR-15 is a good platform and that if it was NR it would be popular but the idea that because something is in use by a military (or lots of of them in the case of the AR) it is a great product. It is very unfortunate, but many countries make purchasing decisions based on factors other than quality/reliability/accuracy (budgetary constraints, behind closed door deals, what is available at the time, etc.) Just look at the F35 debacle. The US Army and Marines have used the Rem700 as the sniper rifle base for a long time. Nothing wrong with the ole 700 but I would not pick it out of the other options out there.

The AR180 set up appears to have some advantages over the AR15 platform so I would think that saying the AR15 is better in every aspect may be a bit of an exaggeration.

This rifle isn't an AR15 killer. Lots of guys are perfectly fine with just using them for range style shooting and there are so many options with an AR they aren't going away.

I see this rifle more of a killer of Mini 14's and SKS with Tapco stocks. :)

I also see it as a SU-16 killer....

But why would you bother to purchase an AR for 1500-3500 only to be used at a range, and usually 1-2 moa......when you can get one of these, run it anywhere, and is 2/3 to 1/4 the price of an AR and it is also a 1-2 moa rifle that takes ar parts.....

Hmmm.... i disagree.

This is going to be as much of a game changer as Irunguns was when they started.
I think you will see an overall price of black-rifles decrease across the whole Canadian market.

Especially if the wolverine team under-reported WK180-C performance as a strategy.

Cheers,

I'm not in on this first batch as i've spent a bunch on the hobby for my time being....but i must says Congrats to Mr. W and the whole crew involved in the creation....i'm excited to now have this firearm on my list to attain...and can't wait to see them keep comin in different styles and colours....:)

Hope you make a few thousand more at least, Mr. Wolverine, because they'll sell like hotcakes. There's no reason why the RCMP lab should classify them as anything but non-restricted, however if they try to get stupid, it's going to be much harder for them to push a different classification if there are five thousand of these or more in the hands of Canadians. Once I come into some funds, I'm for sure buying one.

Are the people that bought one on the first day going to find out if they are getting one of the first 300?

Moved to Q & A page.

Because you can get an AR15 for $650 with iron sights and you have $350 to add stuff to it for the same price as a WK. You can add an unlimited amount of AR stuff that is all compatible. The WK doesn't even have irons. There already were more expensive NR options out there for the guys that want to spend $2000-3000.

And lots of people don't care about NR status, because their main focus for AR style rifles is shooting them at the range.

This rifle is a game changer as it's a NR AR looking rifle that is inexpensive, but there are still plenty of guys that will spend lots of money on AR15's knowing that they will only shoot them at the range, and they are okay with that.

No doubt we will see lots of these in the hands of guys that don't have a Restricted endorsement on their PAL, but wanted a tacticool rifle, and restricted owners that didnt' want to spend $2500 on a NR to shoot in the woods, but were making do with Tapco SKS

*doesn't order rifle immediately. Wife would notice such a cost all at once. Rifle sells well. Cost drops to a deposit. Places deposit quietly while counting toy fund dollars to pay for rifle in time... the perfect plan
