FYI:
Was looking for pictures of the buttstock adapter when I went through some of the original pictures Wolverine posted of raw/finished parts for the rifle.
Hadn't noticed it before but a picture of a box of early charging handles shows a groove at the bottom of the "spigot" that may have been for an o-ring (friction) retaining system.
Given that nobody has even talked about it I suspect it never made it into production rifles.

See #2 - 9th Picture
Thus, as has been publicly disclosed:
1. Preproduction - O-ring Retaining System (Relies on O-ring not taking on a "set")
2. Production (early) - Magnetic Retaining System (May have worked as advertised if "spigot" had been sized correctly for matching hole - thereby allowing the magnet to do its job)
3. Production (upgrade) - Threaded Retaining System (Mechanical Lock - but requires a new version of bolt and charging handle).
Be interested to see if one can take the preproduction version (o-ring) and machine it for 1/4-28 external thread. Then screw it into a properly sized "Spigot" that fits into existing non-threaded bolt carrier holes (.375 diameter hole).
That might be your fix for earlier non-threaded bolt carriers.
