How about an Ar15 clone upper and lower receiver with an AR15 BCG, and a direct impingement gas system...

how about a pic rail that bolts in place of the current stock adapter - the lower receiver already has the threaded opening and locator pin so should be easy work to drill a couple of holes into a short section of rail, countersink one of them, and provide an appropriate length fastener. trims down the guns arse a bit too.

Is it possible to make longer pistons so that we can use barrels with full-length or mid-length gas systems? The biggest reason I never bought the receiver kits was because of lack of barrels that are compatible with the stubby pistons. I also hear that the short pistons in the stock rifles have a tendency to break.

Yeah but if you dont want that barrel you have no other options. Id personally rather use a light weight profile barrel such as a faxon gunner or pencil, vs the ridiculous "DMR" profiles we are always stuck with.

ATRS makes a light profile barrel for this

It looks like there's a new charging handle available.

This one has a shoulder to tighten against, instead of just bottoming out in the threads.
That should make it much less likely to fail.

Its meant to be the equivalent of a heavy duty farm equipment, not a racing car. If someone wants to turn a tractor into a drag racer, that's up to them and their wallet.
