WK180 Gen 2 builds

After seeing yours I decided to take a similar approach, only permanent modification was shortening the gas regulator so it fit behind the sight block.
Modified a Ar15 Front sight block, modified set of FAL handuards and a CQ311 stock on it to give it a different profile than the standard A2.

This is basically exactly what I want to do but with a A1 handguard

I was planning on starting Wk180c Gen 2 build with the goal of making it look like a CAR-15 as much as possible.

Does any one happen to know if the FSB would be able to fit in front of the gas block on the gun.

Also if someone knows a handguard similar to this one that would be able to fit over the larger gas system, could you let me know?

Hi everybody.

I'm curious to know before the Quebec Police come at my house to seize my AR15 this fall, what parts can I transfer on the WK180c gen2? From what I have read, my expensive trigger group, the handle and the stock can be put on the WK180c Gen 2. Is there any other parts I can reuse?

Thank you!

Strip every last little bit and bob off the upper and lower down to the last pin and screw. They prohibited the serialized lower receiver, but not triggers, grips, castle nuts, etc. And they prohibited the upper, but once again not forward assists, dust covers, charging handles etc.

Strip them right down to bare upper and lower for destruction and sell the rest for as much as you can get.

Thank you. For you the upper include the barrel and the bolt? Or just the frame???

If SBI ever finishes it, they are supposed to release a Direct Impingement Bolt Control Group fro the WK and MCR. This would allow the use of a gas tube, gas block, handguard, and barrel with any length of gas port from a donor rifle. The Jard J180 also does this, but it looks like a brick and the lower drops magazines for some people. If they could fix the lower and make the upper a little more pleasing to the eye, it would be a good option.

Just bare upper. You can take off the barrel, bcg, strip out the gas system, hell if for some reason your top rail wasn't milled into the upper and is removable take that off too. By the end your upper and lower should just be two solid pieces almost as though they're factory parts right off the mill.

My same advice goes for if a pistol needs to be turned in for destruction cos it can't be transferred or sold etc. Strip every last thing off the frame until it's a bare piece of steel or polymer or whatever. Right down to bare frame. Leave nothing behind.

The slide, trigger group, backstrap, etc can all be sold off. Only the pistol frame is the restricted part.

For those looking to seal their Gen 2 receivers against debris ingress, True North Arms has announced a TNA WK180-C Full-Length Charging Handle for Gen2 & WK181-C, https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/2346967-Stanley-s-Picks-ISSC-MK22-WK-Full-Length-Charging-Handle-Reloading-Powder-Mags.

From their listing, https://truenortharms.com/tna-wk180-c-full-length-charging-handle-for-gen2-wk181-c/?goal=0_5519b99218-ba02338347-438853586&mc_cid=ba02338347&mc_eid=be01ff8f57

True North Arms Gen2/181C Full Length Handle Product Page said:
True North Arm's WK180-C Full-Length charging handle, is compatible with the Gen2 WK and the WK181-C.

We moved the pivot point back, for a full-length design that covers the entire front slot of your gun. Now your missions in rough terrain won't be interfered with sticks and debris jamming in your gun.

Constructed of aluminum, with a hard-coat mil-spec anodized finish. This is a slimmer design than the OEM one.

Gotta love TNA for all their aftermarket support. Definitely going to check out that charging handle.
When will TNA make a 2 piece gas piston? That’s the next evolution

I stopped holding my breath for a DI BCG for the 180 platform from SBI. If we ever see it I’ll buy one the day they’re available, seems there’s no momentum

Not sure about the when, but received the following response from TNA on their latest "Stanley's Picks" thread, https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/2346967-Stanley-s-Picks-ISSC-MK22-WK-Full-Length-Charging-Handle-Reloading-Powder-Mags:

Any plans on making a replacement 180C/MCR gas-cup style gas block and removable reinforcing sleeve to mimic the upgraded system on the WK-181C? Kodiak's president said they had no plans to produce an updated .223 system when interviewed at Shot Show. Bonus points if the sleeve allows for gas adjustment like the one on the Type 81; the sleeve could then be sold separately for use with the 181C. Thanks!

we'll see what we can do

Have any of you experience the gas regulator slowly coming loose during operation? I hand tight it as hard as I can everytime before the range, but after ~50-100 rounds, it unthreads itself to the point that I can remove it without any tools at all. I'm not quite ready to loctite it, since I clean it after every use. Is Kodiak aware of this issue or have all of you just purchased the aftermarket TNA regulator at this point?

I wanted a folding stock on my WK180 G2 so I used the MDT carbine 2 carbine folding stock adapter I had lying around. Trouble was that I found the length or pull too long. Took it to the range and it was just far too cumbersome to shoot well with the added length. So I decide to look into the parts bin. Found an extra buffer tube and a take off AR stock and went at it with the had saw. I was able to pull about 1.75" off the length but the stock is now pinned in place along the tube. It still folds and the LOP feels much better. Pics to come later.
