I have an early gen 1 with the pinned gas block, several hundred rounds and no issues with the gas system.
However ive had several other issues over 2 years of owning one. Random screws coming loose all the time to failure to feed issues cause by 3 or 4 different things.
Seems every trip to the range i was solving a new issue. Now the rifle works pretty good but its gone through several modifications to the point the only thing original on my is literally just the barrel/gas system and the bolt.
Im running a lynx receiver set, with a gieselle trigger, TNA improved bolt carrier and 17" handguard. Had the first batch of the lynx receivers that needed a few mods to function properly. But overal my last several trips to the range now the rifle has been fine but at a hefty cost. If i had of known id be into this rifle for an extra 1k+ just to make it function half decent i would have just taken the money and bought something more reliable from the factory.
Cant comment on the gen 2's but i may convert my existing rifle to a gen 2 with an upper swap.
If its your first black rifle i wouldnt but if your like me and have everything else then why not experiment a bit. Their definitely workable with some time, money and a bit of mechanical inclination.
