Thank you so much for the reply. I just like its piston based gas system and side charging handle feature. Do you have any idea that how much gas port will be opened up for short barrel carbine length gas system AR15 barrel?Carbine length gas system. AR-15 barrels fit but the WK requires a larger gas port size.
Not sure why you'd want to turn it into a restricted firearm by installing a shorter barrel? The only attraction to the WK180-C is it's NR status.
You can get yourself a pretty decent AR-15 for what it will cost you to buy a WK180-C and another barrel.
My .02c: leave the NR status of the WK alone.

Yea. You are right. I need some more details regarding gas port size for proper fucntion of the rifle.No idea how much it will need opened up on a short barrel because different barrel lengths will definitely have a slightly different effect on function.
I know when I replaced the factory barrel with a Maple Ridge Armoury 18.6" barrel I ended up using a #42 drill bit which gave me a gas port diameter of .0935". I started smaller and worked my way up until it functioned properly. If you start out drilling the port too large you can never go smaller again.
jiffx,
So you’re saying the ASA side charging upper will fit the WK lower? Or do you mean get the ASA upper for a standard AR lower?
The ASA upper will only fit on an AR-15 lower. I was just suggesting since he likes side charging that he can put his money towards building a side charging upper for an AR-15 instead of putting money into trying to make a restricted WK180-C.
Although the WK is a decent firearm it's a better idea to play lego with the AR platform and the abundance of readily available parts that are out there. I really see no point in trying to make a restricted WK180-C.

@jiffx2781
Are wk180c upper and lower forged?
Thanks for reply. So, they are machined from billet. Right?No, of course not.

Yea. It will be fun gun with 12.5 inch barrel.Re the gas port, I put on MRA 18.6 barrel with carbine length gas port. I noticed the gas port is smaller than the take off barrel. I did not enlarge it and the rifle functions fine. If anything I think the original barrel is over-gassed, and that smaller gas port helps.
To OP's thought, I would not call 180's piston a reliability advantage over the DI AR15. It's more moving part hence more chance of breakage. The 180's piston rod is pretty slim and not a beefy one like on SKS.
Still a cool idea to have a shorty 180c. I'd start with 14.5 or 12.5 carbine length barrel so it fits the existing hand guard. You need to cut cross pin slot on the barrel if your gas block is an early version, or you can order a new style 2 set screws gas block from Kodiak.
