Gen 1 Wk here, Serial #80....
I have 2 screws underside of the gas block. no cross pin.
I have a very early 1st gen rifle and my gas block was not pinned in place it still used the set screw
Serial number a bit above 100. 1 set screw at the rear of the gas block and a pin through the front. It is not a taper pin like on an AR-15 fsb. This pin can be driven out to easily remove gas block but it fits tight and most importantly prevents the gas block from coming out of alignment. Quite a few rounds through this rifle and the gas block hasn't gone anywhere. Really not sure why they quit doing this???
My ser number is 108 and I just have the single set screw
They don’t seem to be very consistent on how they attached the gas block lol
My early Gen1 serial mid 110's has cross pin and one set screw
So within 35 rifles or so we have 3 methods of attaching the gas block lol
So that clip will work to stop the gas block from moving forward if it loosens which is a good thing but what will stop it from rotating if it loosens? Do they just count on the handguard stopping it from rotating too much?
A simple pin would still be the answer in my opinion but what do I know.
Was honestly hoping to see a bit more design improvement to the gas/piston system in the Gen 2 but so far it looks like the only improvements to the rifle are ergonomics/aesthetics?
Why hasn’t anyone copied the original ar180/180b stamped steel upper with everything properly aligned , functional, and proper gas tube length/block? Patents must be expired, the two I owned never had these issues. And the rifles retailed for $750 usd.
Majority aesthetic it appears in addition to the non reciprocating charging handle.
It is also lighter, comes stock with a longer handguard, has captive AR15 takedown pins, uses standard AR trigger pins and AR15 safety.
The AR safety and captive takedown pins are what sold me on the rifle.
did they spruce up that upper receiver with some steel inserts
400 rounds now. Still no malfunctions to speak of.
Mine broke after 50 rounds. Waiting on KD for answers

Thanks for keeping us updated, have you tried LAR, MFT, C product mags? ( 10 round pistol mags or any brand )
It was the 10 round pistol mags that would not feed on my Gen 1
