WK180c Gen2 Range Report

i have an early WK and the bolt and carrier blew up. Kodiak was great, they had parts to me very quickly! no issues since. i’m sure they’ll make it right. but, the waiting! i feel for you…

Luckily I have an SBI Lynx 180 lower that I've tossed onto the rifle for now, to atleast have a functional rifle. But that lower will be used for for my .300blk build that will be fnished by the end of May

oh that’s good. atleast you have something to use untill this gets sorted out.

Thanks for confirmation the Lynx lower fits the Gen2 upper. This would be handy for people who want to use a Zhukov or 1913 stock on a Lynx lower with a Gen2 WK upper.

The wk gen 2 has a rear takedown pin right?

Two questions, can you the bolt catch/release from the Gen 2 lower fit on the Lynx lower? And did you have to bend or modify the "wings" at the back end of the upper to fit the Lynx lower? The guys at First Focal Plane could not get Gen 2 upper to fit a Gen 1 lower, but they managed the opposite, https://youtu.be/GZHt1R5c37w.

Not trying to hi jack the thread OP but here is a range report from Reddit user Quesnelmultigun

Going from tip to butt

Potentially a new muzzle device, though if not we assume the A2 Birdcage will be used

15' handguard as standard

Improved gas system, only the piston and a Banjo bolt are now used which is much much easier to take apart and put back in

Non-reciprocating charging handle that has a detente to remain in place

90' angle magwell- left side charging only

Improved and more ergonomic BCG hold/release

Improved standard AR safety- Improved ability to take in drop in AR trigger packs

Standard Gen 2 trigger will be better than Gen 1

Beavertail or non-beavertail AR grips can be used, A2 will come as standard

Significant weight savings and improved handling through curved receiver

2x captured take down pins for a tightly locked together upper and lower

Interestingly when we tried to force an over-insertion of a magazine we found that the bolt hold open leaver is under such tension that once the magazine that was forcibly over inserted (by holding down the mag release button during insertion) was let go of it pops down into a regular place. We could not replicate this with e Gen 1, is this a one off or a new vs old spring we don't know.

Currently the rifle is priced at $1400 and due for delivery to shops in March/April. Right now if we had to choose between the most recent MCR ($1600) and the Gen 2 ($1400) we'd point to the Gen 2 as being better value for money and also likely to be more available based on previous production numbers.

What will shape the success of this rifle is likely to be the cocking handle and piston, if both play nicely then it's a winner.

We've put less than a 1000 rounds through it, we're not posting an end verdict till several thousand have passed through.

So far though on appearances it's a better rifle than the MCR.

Unfortunately KD requested we return it after we had put only 1250 - 1500 rounds through it

No failures or malfunctions at all. Honestly it shouldn't be any different from the Gen 1 in that regard, not that they've gotten rid of the vast majority of issues with the Gen 1 it should be a reliable good quality for money rifle. But we just didn't have the time we wanted with it

Accuracy is the same as the Gen 1. With Barnaul 55gr we got 2 3/4 - 3.25 moa groups.

With better ammo I anticipate 1 - 2.5moa depending on ammo used and number of rounds in the group.

We don't feel we've put enough rounds through to claim it 100% has no issues.

We have not had any issues so far though.

Great info! Ive got another 500 rounds in the mail right now. Round count should be up to or a little over 1000 by the end of next month providing no issues prevent themselves.

Update: Put 150 rounds of Barnaul 62gr soft points through it bringing the total to around 550. Still no malfunctions. 40 rounds of those were mag dumped from a cross mag and again, no malfunctions whatsoever.

Will also add I have not cleaned the rifle at all yet. Just greased and lubed.
