I had mine out today and during firing the gun collapsed upon itself. There is a round section on the return spring plate that appears to have broken off. I only have 400-500 rounds through it so I'm not too impressed. Has anyone else have this happen?

No, get in touch with Kodiak, they'll make this right

I took mine to the range again today (I get out once a week these days). Unfortunately it wasn’t fun. After the first round, it wouldn’t fire. It would chamber a round, pull the trigger, hammer hits the pin, nothing. Not even a mark on the round after extracting it. Tried a few more times... nothing. I was naturally a bit surprised and annoyed. I took it apart on the shooting bench, took out the bolt and couldn’t see anything obviously wrong. Sprayed some lube on it and reassembled it. Trigger looked fine. But after putting it back together, still no bang. When I got home I did a complete tear down of the BCG pulling out the pin, etc. Still couldn’t find anything wrong.

My only conclusion is that the bolt wasn’t seating properly to seal the chamber and thus the firing pin couldn’t reach the primer. I really didn’t look closely at that while at the range. It looks fine now. I’ll see what happens next weekend. In the mean time, I’ll ping Kodiak and see what they think might be the problem.

Purchased new.
Some issues at start
Warranty replacement threaded handle and carrier
Round 100 round area
Flashhider came loose-replaced with TNA no issue since.
Bolt lug broke round same time KD replaced had it in 3 days or so approx 800 rounds on new one no issue approx 900 on gun total.
Handguarď screws were insanely tight all came out though but 1 stripped had to pound in a torx head and screw it out worked though
Extraction issues 250 rounds or so in replaced extractor spring with dpms spring works pretty good now occasional issue with polymer/plastic mags
Cpd mags seem the best in mine still wanna change extractor spring to a bcm heard there better.
Loves hornady match grade ammo thats been the most accurate but I dont like to pay the price so pmc and american eagle work well in it and are accurate as well.
Ordered a strike eagle 1x6 still like the sparc ar but the magnifier im not a big fan of at longer distances the magnified dot covers too much and I wanna yote hunt a bit with it so gonna try the 1x6 strike eagle out on it.
Triggers #### I upgraded the trigger with dpms trigger spring kit still not great wish I got a reduced power spring set either way isnt gonna get ya to what a nice aftermarket trigger will.
Might have to start using the blue loctite on the handle and need ar buffer tube wrench as its came loose tapped tight with punch for now.

WK180C
coupled cpd mags
Tna flashhider
Dpms trigger spring kit
Dpms extractor spring-gonna order a bcm
Mdt pistol grip
Brass deflector
Vortex vmx3t magnifier
Vortex sparc ar
Feyachi cheap 45 iron sights do the job
Tna 15" handguard
Amazon vertical magpul knock off grip
Midwest industries bipod adapter

Even with the issues I had I would do it again alot of bad name came early on the release of this firearm IMO dont expect a 3000$ gun or ar 15 and you wont be dissappointed would I want it in hand over others in a shtf not really but if i were in one I would prefer it over lots of others too lol (And what are the better options now that are NR)???
The guns more accurate then I thought it would be I have taken it out to 200 yards with a 4x12 on it and it shot good and it likes certain ammo hornady pmc and american eagle being best i have tried match grade 75grain works awesome in mine I wanna get into handloading for it at some point

Still wanna get a odin works extended mag release and better trigger in it.

Anyone installed the spectre handle? Got a pic of it installed?

check your firing pin hole in the bolt. Maybe a bit of debris has got wedged in it. Also look at the end of the firing pin to check if a small part of it has fallen off.

New to the forum, still working out the text editor and image insertion but here's an imgur link - https://imgur.com/a/OoAzqIf

I installed mine last week after receiving in the mail, overall it seems like an improvement but I haven't put it any rounds downrange since I installed it. The 3-D printed material is a lot grippier than the metal handle, your hand will have a hard time slipping while charging the rifle with this handle from SBI. It does seem to fit a little more flush to the receiver than the original as well. The bolt design also makes it super easy to torque it down during dis/reassembly. Will update if I have any issues but otherwise it seems really solid.

Hmmm looks ok whata the total cost to get one?
Suppost to be stronger?

Mine is in the 19xx serial range. No issues with the magnetic charging handle other than some light scrape marks inside the receiver. But I did write to KD to see if I can get the new bolt under the recall. Waiting to hear. On my last range trip, the piston rod broke off cleanly in half, effectively making the rifle a single-shot. I had to disassemble the forend to get the pieces out, the thicker part of the rod was stuck next to the thinner part going into the receiver. Had to ram the thinner part through the chamber hole to get it to drop. Sent pics and info to KD and also waiting to hear from them. Rifle has seen about 1200 rounds.

Honestly I'd stick with the magnetic bolt. Mine came with the screw in bolt handle and I suffered multiple breaks on it. Then I went to the magnetic one and have had no issues since.

Kodiak will send you a new piston, just send them pictures and be polite and they'll help you as best as they can.

for a $1k plus you would expect a better platform

Without meaning to be rude, I don't think you know what you're talking about when you say that you expect a small company to:

- Design a new rifle to work with low/medium number production methods
- Establish the manufacturing equipment, training, licenses, logistics, supplier relationships etc etc
- Tick all the required health & safety boxes and get permission from the Gov't to go ahead
- Test and refine the rifle to an acceptable level
- Market the rifle
- Offer a one year no questions asked warranty
- Pay wages, pension contributions and taxes
- Compete with products made by multi-national government supported companies like H&K
- Do all the above for $1000 - $1200 with say a 5 - 20% profit margin at best

It's not the best rifle in the world, it's not made by a large company with large resources, it's made out of a small factory in Ontario.

It's also $1200, you want big company quality? Go drop $2400 on an X95 made by a large govt supported company, not good enough? Ok the G36 is waiting for you. All to often on this forum I see "Chicom" mentioned so there's that, you can grab a Type 97 G3 if you like for circa $1100, then later complain about Canadian manufacturing disappearing.

I absolutely do think the rifle could be better, and I absolutely would be happy if they upped the quality and took us to $1500. It's a rifle, treat it right and it'll last for a long long time.
