WK180c Practical Review with Pics and Video

At this point Kodiac should just send you a new rifle. Small price to pay to take care of a customer. Seems like you got z lemon there.

I took my WK out to the range today and did some mag tests.

Hera 5/30
Gen3 5/30 Pmag
LAR 10 Rnd
RRA 10/30
50 Beowulf

I can't really comment on the accuracy because the trigger really is as bad as some people have said. Out of the box it's about 10 lbs. and creepy/gritty. I'll give the contact surfaces a polish, change the springs and then try to group it with a variable power scope. Based on what I saw today I'd estimate that this is a 2-3 MOA rifle and that's fine for what it is. It won't replace my competition AR but it's a fun NR plinker.

Sorry guys rifle sold this morning.
Local guy picked her up with full disclosure.
I'm out a lot of pointless cash spent but it's done with.

I'll be watching to see if future runs get all the kinks out. I look at it as a "so close to a home run but it just bounced off the top wall" scenario.
It's got serious potential. It just needs tweaking if it hasnt already been adjusted since 1st run.
Kodiak, thanks for the quick replies and open dialogue, my obvious frustrations aside.
If I can make only one suggestion, work it out between you and dealer to split cost or whatever but no buyer should have to pay shipping/anything out of pocket for warranty work on a defective product.
Especially since canada is remote, you only have one place it can go and it's about 60 bucks to ship it from upper alberta.
I also hope you guys are taking the criticism and applying lessons learned to future runs.

I'll be watching to see if it gets hammered out. Preorder/1st product run fool me once shame on me this time lol

The ftf you had in that video is EXACTLY what mine had with all 5 different brands of steel mags I currently own.
Only the hera and MFT's I had to buy specifically for this gun fed.
But they fed 120% reliably in all fairness.

I completely understand your frustration.

Something that other WK owners may want to try is the following.

I trimmed, ramped and polished the front lip of my LAR mags. When my AR got dirty, the BCG got sluggish and with the reduced force the round would catch the front lip and FTF. Here's a picture of the modified mag.

I took the lip down about 3 or 4 mm then ramped and polished with 220 grit. My LAR mags have been 100% reliable since. I'm going to try the same mod with my RRA 10/30 mags to see if that helps. Here's a pic of the unmodified RRA mag.

And another pic of all of the mags I tried (same order as the video).

The Beowulf mag's front lip is cut way further down from the factory so I couldn't ramp it at all since there's no material there. This may be why it constantly FTFs in this rifle.

Just a thought...

What that is likely doing is actually prematurely lifting/ramping upwards the tip of the cartridge actually which would make sense why the modded magazines in that fashion would work better.
Especially with what I've found from this experience. It would allow the rounds tip to raise up higher and bypass the problem of being pushed forward by the bolt too low and jamming on the bottom of the ramp.

No comment on modifying a pistol mag to make it work in a.....lolcou:
