WK180C Shorter barrel options?

It’s foolish to think the people making the ban list don’t already know just as much as we all do.
Why this never made the list, or had its frt changed illegally is anyone’s guess.

Probably because the RCMP couldn't tie its design to the super scary, dreaded Ar15. The Ar180 design predates it.
The WK is certainly on the Liberal's ban list. Every single firearm, including pellet guns and sling shots, are on their list. As well as knives and pointed sticks. Can't have socialism if the population has the ability to remove them from power.

The WK-180 and the Tavor are featured prominently in "Poly Remembers" propaganda.

Don't think for a minute that they don't know about these rifles.

I’ll talk to Kodiak. If it takes AR-15 barrels, it shouldn’t be hard to source one. In Canada, there are very few AR-15 rifles that anyone will be buying a barrel for these days. But that could work against me I guess if no one is bringing in stock. As for registering it, I have no where else to shoot it other than the range anyway so that’s not really a concern. And when the WK180C ends up on a ban list, I doubt any particular barrel length will save or doom it.

The point about being on s lisg is to not have your name against it.

Non-compliance is the how we peacefully say no

*a friend of mine* has tempted with the idea of SBR wk180 before.

As others said already wk180 takes AR barrel. Specifically you need a carbine length barrel with 0.750" gas block diameter. Mid-length will work too if you get the RWA gas piston.

Gas port size should not be a problem as the original wk180 is overgas'ed anyway. The gas port size on my MRA 18.6 barrel is smaller than the original barrel but cycles without problem.

The best way to do it is to get a spare upper to put your short barrel on. Then one can dance around the "inform within 30 days after changing to restricted" line and only swap on the SBR upper at the range.

Here's the parts list you need to build another upper other than the barrel:
Piston Gas Block UNIT: 50.00 QTY 1 50
Piston Cup UNIT: 15.50 QTY 1 15.5
Piston Sets crew UNIT: 1.50 QTY 1 1.5
Piston Rod, Carbin Length UNIT: 20.25 QTY 1 20.25
Piston Spring UNIT: 2.50 QTY 1 2.5
Gas Block Set screw UNIT: 1.50 QTY 1 1.5
Upper Receiver UNIT: 175.00 QTY 1 175
Barrel Nut, Low Profile, AR15 UNIT: 15.00 QTY 1 15
Handguard, 10" WK180 UNIT: 200.00 QTY 1 200
Bushing, Nylon, Piston UNIT: 1.25 QTY 1 1.25
Handguard Retaining Bolt UNIT: 1.50 QTY 8 12.00
Total $494.50

They are keeping some "gun ban promise" for next election. See, we banned 1500 (and more) models but if you elect us, we’ll ban so much more ! - any liberals

Brilliant. I suppose one could buy all this from Kodiak.

Where to get a short barrel though?

$495 + say 10% taxes and $30 postage is $574, put that on top of your say $1375 for the rifle and you're at $1949.5

A barrel might cost an extra $250 + tax so $275 mskjng a total of $2224.5

I think X95s sell for around $2400, so for a short rifle of comparable accuracy but non-restricted it might be worth having a think about that.

Not as high quality as the Tavor, the the Type 97 M-LOK is now available at various retailers for $1200.

I just threw on a 10.5” to see what it would look like. Functions flawless after throwing away the factory extractor spring and installing an upgraded BCM kit.

Or about the same as a quality AR-15 SBR (if that was still an option).

Nice. Where did you get the barrel? Off of one of your now prohib ARs?

And the main advantage of these rifle is gone... being NR and able to be used outside the ranges

I think the main advantage of these rifles is that they are not prohib. And the flexibility to run a non-restricted or restricted barrel length based on your needs and interests.

It’s a Stag Hbar 10.5 purchased new from ArmsEast. They had a bunch of Stag parts on sale after the ban. I think if I pin the butt stock to full length it can still be classified as non restricted. They do it to the GSG 16 with a 9” barrel so why not this?

" They do it to the GSG 16 with a 9” barrel so why not this? "

That is specifically because the GSG-16 is a rimfire (.22LR) rifle.
All it needs is a 26" overall length to remain non-restricted.

The WK-180 is a "center-fire, semi-auto" rifle.
As such; It needs a 18.6" barrel to be non-restricted.

So are you going to keep the short barrel and register it? What’s your plan?
