Keep in mind that the Government is giving the RCMP SFSS carte blanche to classify things.
No they arent. And they cant. The Constitution forbids it.

Yes the rcmp will be emboldened to issue more opinions, but gun owners need to step up to the plate and start putting this crap in front of judges

There is no Constitutional problem. The RCMP SFSS issues its opinion, the Government rubber stamps it. The Government is only following the advice of the professionals and experts. How many OiCs have been reversed when put in front of a judge?

How many OICs have been issued by or because of the rcmp? Zero.

The rcmp opninions are acted on as if they are law but no one in government can elevate the opinion of a cop to equal status as statute.

The rcmp and other police routinely lose in court on evidentiary issues.

It's not how it works. The government just decided to give up its right to change classification with an oic, it means THEY can't (or won't) reverse an rcmp opinion. It doesn't mean the rule of law has stopped to exist. The whole 10/22 fiasco, the beowulf saga, that's all just rcmp opinion. One that they don't hold very strongly, and that crown prosecutors all over the country don'T even share, given that nobody has ever been charged of anything based on that opinion.

Heck, the whole FRT is merely the rcmp's opinion; to be charged for possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm, the mere presence of that firearm in the FRT table with a prohibited/restricted entry isn't sufficient, the crown has to prove the firearm is of that category, and just pointing to the FRT isn't a proof.

In order for an AICS to be deemed a prohibited device, one of 2 things would need to happen:
1-Prove that they were designed and manufactured for a semi-automatic centre-fire firearm;
2-Legislative change that would render them prohibited.

#1 is impossible given that it's currently designed and manufactured for bolt actions. #2 is possible, but hardly. If that ever comes to pass, I believe we'll collectively be facing much worse that prohibition of a few mags.

Remember the prohibited orders - which were subsequently incorporated into legislation? The long lists of various firearms? Who do you think drafted the lists for the Government of the day??
This current Government has stated that the RCMP will be making determinations for classification purposes. Are you suggesting that this Government will ignore the recommendations, and not use 12(9) to prohibit additional firearms?

I think there would be a mass market for a modern scout rifle. However there would be a definite market if you offered either a retro line or retro parts to setup the rifle like an ar-16, galil, or FAL.

Will send a PM. No need to derail.

Hell send one to me too please as this was my full understanding of the situation.
Unless I'm retarded or missing something. They went from specific serial number range due to converted auto receivers within said range on a manufactured model firearm to full model/manufacturer prohib "just because" and it's going down officially.
What am I missing?

The barrel nut is intriguing, it would be great if the barrel thread was compatible with another manufacturers, for example if it matched the savage threading or whoever's AR style and you could adapt their barrels easily enough than any take offs for sale could be easily adapted.

I understand the gas piston port vs. blow block creating some extra work, but as an example.

Seeing other 308 family calibers, 338 fed in a 19" barrel for bush, and then switch to a 243 or 6.5 in a 22-24" barrel for field or target as options would be appealing.

I suppose a 458 socom option for the other model would be fun too!

A Savage style barrel nut system might not be too practical. The gas port must be correctly indexed, both longitudinally and top dead center.

Would make sense to switch out uppers instead of barrels....if uppers are available separately of course.

I'd rather XCR-M pistol mags, personally.

Also, AR-16 style furniture, please.

Yesss. This is along the lines of the 'galil look a like' I'd want. Very good. Great style.

I think xcrm mags would be best.
AICS mags for a semi would be cool if you're building a .5moa rig, which would be stupid expensive and isn't the goal of this project.

also for weight, between 7.5-8 lbs would be a good goal to strive for.

Under $1500
Wide variety of calibers available from 22-250, 260rem, 7-08, 308, 338 federal OR the ability to relatively cheaply change barrels... (USE A BARREL NUT!!!)
Pistol mag compatable would be a bonus
Under 8lbs
Use AR forends so it can be dolled up easily or very minimally
Use a common trigger group so folks can upgrade easily...
Offer em naked (muahahaha)... Seriously... Unfinished, a good percentage of folks no doubt wouldent mind custom hydro dipping or DIY Armacoat or Ceracoat... Saves you time, saves us money.

Ever see an original VW Beetle? The people's car... Make us a people's gun... One in every closet.

Anything else with that. Lol.
