I’m off to the Armstrong area – WMU 16C – for the first time this fall. We’ve hunted the Bancroft area WMU 57 and the Temagami area WMU 40 in the past with good success, but the present tag situation makes those areas a lost cause.
Having never been to 16C before, I was hoping for some advice on the area for those who know it. We are staying with Mattice Lake Outfitters and have four tags – 2 bull and two cow. I understand that some of the area was ravaged by fire last year, so am hoping that the re-growth will be good for the moose.
Advice on good locations to hunt or strategies for the area would be appreciated. We have trucks, boats and atv’s.

Never been that far up myself, but make sure you contact the MNR Thunder Bay office as to which roads you can travel on. Some are no access due to Outfitters having the Hunting rights. I talked to them in the winter and I had my map out, and the travelling is quite limited.
