I got permission to hunt a farm in WMU 65 and would like to know if I am allowed to hunt coyotes with center fire rifles. The farm is close to Alexandira, ON. Can the municipality regulate which caliber you can use or they can only regulate where you can discharge firearms.

You have to make sure that the municipality does not have a firearms discharge by-law.
Otherwise, these are the relevant sections from the Ontario Hunting Regulations .....

if those coyotes are damaging your friends (land owners) property ..... you can act as his "wildlife agent" ......
In this case ... hunting regulations do not apply .... you just need an H1 Outdoors Card ....

I tried sending emails to people that work in the municipality but they did not answer me. Next step is to call, do you maybe have another way of finding out about the firearm bylaws.
Does not have chickens on the property but would not be a bad idea to get some for the "wild life agent" opportunity.

Doesn't look like there's any mention of a discharge bylaw online but there has to be one about not discharging a firearm near villages, hamlets etc. etc. They usually have maps for that but I don't see anything online for North Glengarry. Best bet is to get a hold of the township, might be a PITA though with the 'rona measures in place.
No restriction on rifle caliber for coyote out here.
One of the guys that hunts in our group also goes out with a gang from the moose creek area and they all use rifles out there. Whereas our group is pretty much just scatterguns.

no caliber restrictions in 65. Stay out of the village and you're good to go. I hunt just south in Green Valley. Good luck!
