I know deer is not small game... I was being a smartass. I misunderstood Waterfowlers post and the regs. My bad.
I am aware of the WMU's around Barrie, and have applied for the contolled shotgun/muzzle loader season. I was successful with a bow only antlerless tag for 76. What I'm trying to find out is if I can hunt coyotes around Barrie, with a rifle.
What I did find in the regs on page 71 is:
"The holder of a small game licence may not use a rifle of greater calibre than .275, except a flintlock or percussion cap muzzle-loading gun, for hunting small game in the counties of Brant, Elgin, Essex, Huron, Lambton, Middlesex, Northumberland, Oxford, Perth and Wellington and the regional municipalities of Chatham/Kent, Durham, the former regional municipalities of Haldimand-Norfolk and Hamilton-Wentworth, Halton, Niagara, Peel, Waterloo and York and the City of Toronto."
I'm just thinking Municipalities might have their own rules as to distance from town a firearm can be used, and what type.
*** Just so im not totally hi-jacking OP's thread: When you look at the links Kilo posted, the WMU you will be deer hunting does not seem to be a restricted area. I will be hunting in 57 during rifle season.
