FLHTCUI just imagine stalking a six point blacktail across someone's professionally manicured garden in the Uplands. Would be very civilized I believe.
As for the 'bou's I don't think it is wolves that are to blame for their decline.
Predator and prey numbers are linked. If there's a significant decline in prey, the predator will either starve or switch to other prey. Wolves are very adaptable. They also "understand" cost/benefit. If caribou become too rare to make a hunt worth their time and effort they will look for something else. Especially when pups are in the den, they need frequent kills to keep the mother able to produce milk and then to supply the pups themselves. If there is nothing else, the predator numbers will crash and the prey will have a chance to recover. Wolves will take anything from mice to musk ox.
Lack of natural predators has led to the superabundance of whitetail deer. While hunters may be in favour of this, it isn't as good for the ecosystem.
definitely human habitation effecting it as well. I would more support gov paying for ammo for hunter to hunt wolves more.
Since caribou are migrators you need to look at their entire migration route and see what they are coming in contact with ie. Vast stretches of poluted water, contaminated ground, strip mines, global warming thawing out perma frost and glaciers, transforming creeks into raging torrents and solid ground to bottomless quagmires.....all sorts of stuff
might be a good idea to relocate a bunch east instead of kill all

Fair enough. Had those damn reds circling my cottage for first 2 months last summer... looking for food and to get at the cat and 2 month old pup. I didn't want to shoot it so shot over their head, however kept coming back till I hit one with some birdshot. However Wolfs hate coyote's, so this could prove beneficial. As to Where- places where they have been extirpated, such as southern Ontario. This would also help control moose and deer populations, rooting out weaker specimens, therby creating a stronger bloodline. No thanks! the wolf/coyote hybrids we have here are bad enough without throwing full on wolves into the mix, you guys can keep them.
Where I live wolf numbers are through the roof. 3 big packs roam around our town alone. No moose or deer to be seen. Got no problem with a cull. Wondering when they will be doing a coyote cull too...

Yes, the Government plan is as flawed as those who oppose it.
Spending my tax dollars for a select few to run around or fly around and shoot the alleged problem wolves.
The Deer Cull in the Oak Bay area (suburb of Victoria) is also garnering some unwanted attention as well.
I wonder where I can sign up for the detail.
