My FIL has been contracted to do some wolf control and wants to borrow my .243 for the job. I've loaded up some Nosler 70gr. ballistic tips for load development that I'm hopefully going to try out today. My question is has anyone else used these pills on wolf and how did they work? I'm pretty sure a good hit will mean DRT, mainly concerned about pelt damage. Will these bullets exit on broadside shots and make a mess? Any experience you have had is appreciated!

Haven't used them on wolf yet but I am using these bullets @ 3600fps in my 21" barreled 6mm-284 the plan is to use them on wolves when I go north next time.

All the wolves I have shot are with my old 22-250 with 60gr Sierra HP Varminter bullets @ 3500fps.

Every wolf dropped instantly and the longest shot was around 300 yards and all of the bullets exited I expect the .243 70gr BT's to do even better but the potential pelt damage is there just don't know yet.

I usually hit wolves with a 55gr FMJ 218 Bee or a 55 FMJ in a 223 your 243 will drop them in there tracks if its a good hit, but I just bought big wolf medicine 223wssm good luck.

Well, I got out to try my test loads and it looks like 42gr. of 4064 is the load I'll go with. (max was 42.5gr) I got 3/4" for 3 shots @ 100yds with this load. I think it might actually do a little better as I was having a little trouble getting the sandbags positioned right. Not sure of the velocity as I don't have a chrony yet but I'm guestimating from the load data that my 22" barrel should be giving about 3200-3300fps. (42.5gr shows 3541fps with a 24" bbl) We'll just have to see what kind of mess they make!
