I picked up some Wolf large rifle primers last summer and used them to produce practice loads in my 280 and 300 winmag. During the summer they worked fine but when I tried them the last two outings I got hangfires and a few missfires. I then tried the identical loads ( same batch of H4895) today , except with Winchester large rifle primers, and every round fired properly. Has anyone seen this in their loads or did I just get a bad batch?

Been shooting Wolf primers for a bit now and will be likely switching to them in all my rifles.. SD has been that much approved. I have gone through hundreds without a hitch. I am pretty anal about never touching primers though, from package into primer loader without ever touching a finger tip. I'm sure you are the same way though.

I have read that if these primers are not seated ALL the way into the primer pocket that some are having hang fires due to a hard cup and large diameter, may want to check into this.

I hand seat all my primers to make sure they bottom and I had no problems till the weather turned cold. It's always possible a bad package slipped through so I'll try a different one from the same box of 1000 , maybe these will function better.

Got mine at a gun show in Regina from a guy in Lancer SK. I can't remember his name but I think he has a web page called Rayn'er Shine gunworks.

hunter, if you bought them from doug that could be the problem! dont quote me for sure but i think he stores them in a barn or big garage because when he brings his stuff to the shows its always got lots of dust and crap on his stuff and maybe just maybe they could have some moisture buildup in them or so? just a guess!

Just started testing WOLF primers and it has been cold. ZERO issues in my 260AI.

Either bad batch or poorly stored would be my guess.

If they work in the summer, then problem solved.

Enjoy..
