Hey guys,

just curious about the installation of the recoil spring on my norinco 1911C. I have the extra power one, (22lbs). i am wanting to shoot 45-08 out of it. :evil:

my problem is i dont see how this thing is going to fit into the damn thing, it is over 2.5 inches longer then the one i have in there now. :redface: I tried to compress it, but aside from jabbing it into my eye a few times trying, i dont think it will go.

Is there a difference in the x-power springs for the commander, and the govt model? If so, this may be the problem.

Anyone have any ideas for me to try?
 
Commander and Government model Colt's use different recoil springs, different lengths because the slides are different lengths. Stock springs for the two different models have different weights also.

Don't know how the Norinco models compare.
 
You could cut some loops out of your replacement spring,I use a needle file and cut it so it is flat on top so as not to wear anything out.
 
Cutting a few coils off a recoil spring will not change the spring's compression weight, only the length of draw. 1911 full length springs are normally 16pounds and 23 coils long. Not sure about commander length since the book is out in the shop but I recall that the spring is 18 pound. If you really really have to have that big a bang why not look for a DesertEagle or an AutoMag, they were designed for that level.
