Wolf Reloaded 9mm.. bad lot?

Anyone else find the 9mm doesn't shoot worth a damn? I have some 9mm TMJ, 40SW TMJ and 45ACP TMJ. The 40SW and 45ACP shoot like the dream, but the 9mm just plain sucks. I can keep both the larger calibres inside 4 inches at 25yards, but the 9mm has trouble staying under a foot at 25 yards. I even shoot both the 40SW and 9mm out of the same gun (a SIG P229 with a conversion kit) and found the same results. Wondering if anyone else has found the same issue... Could it be a bad lot?
 
SIG P229 and a STI Ranger II. Definitely not mediocre guns. Also, as I mentioned the 40SW grouped tight in the P229, but the 9mm didn't. Maybe I have gotten a bad batch.
 
I have uswd wolf ammo, but not the TMJ bullet. Wolf ammo has been very good.

It is common for a gun to like, or puke, with a particluar load/brand of ammo. if that same ammo works in another gun, it is ok ammo, just incompatible. Test a box or two before buying a case...
 
what grain bullet?- you need to match the twist with the bullet weight to some degree- my beretta 92 keyholes with 147 grain, and shoots spectacularly with 115s and 124 grain cast-
 
Wolf 9mm, 124gr TMJ.

I cant imagine that an STI ranger II would shoot 124 gr bullets poorly. I honestly believe it's a bad lot. I'm having trouble sourcing some local 9mm to compare with though.
 
I bought 2 boxes of wolf 9 mil 2 weeks ago. I've never used it before, and based on my experience with it, I'll never buy it again. In the first 12 rounds, 3 got jammed in the chamber. The NP34 I was using has never had a ftf or fte....never. I asked a senior member at the club to check it out and he noticed definite bulges on the casings of the 3 rounds that jammed. Switched back to S&B factory rounds....gun worked flawlessly, as usual. I've only ever heard good things about wolf ammo, but my recent experience with it was very disapointing. I'll definitely be sticking to factory loads.

So it has to be the ammo, can,t poss be the cheap knock of gun that allmost everyone thats owned one has had issues with....
Norinco makes soem good knock offs, 1911, sks, ak, m14.
But that np34 is not one of them.
I would have you contact wolf directly.
Every single round that wolf makes go into a chamber checker.
So the fact that you S&B ammo works is great, but does not meen your gun is not way out of spec.

I had the same issue with a 300$ SS glock BBL, would not feed on wolf ammo, i had wolf look at it.
Yep out of spec, too tight.
Sent back to the MFG, got a call. to tight. out of spec.
Got a new unit from the MFG.
Wolf ammo is reloaded, its not perfect but alot betterthe nyou would think,for way less then you pay or new stuff.

9mm ejection problems.

I have also experienced problems with my Ranger II and wolf 9mm.

There appears to be an inconsistency between loads that the STI is particularly susceptible to. Either that, or the STI simply doesnt like Wolf 9mm ammo.

I shoot only factory with this gun now, especially since the price margin is so narrow.

Revolver ammo from Wolf shoots real well though, albeit being not as hot as factory ammo, and its priced right.
 
http://www.theammosource.com/ sells Wolf 9mm ammo. I'm not vouching for them, but I did see they had some while broswing their website yesterday, so I thought I'd mention it here. Their case of 1000 Wold 9mm 135gr round nose looks like a pretty good deal @ $208.99 (that's 21 cents a pop in my books). Does anyone have any experience with that particular load, especially with a Sig P226?
 
I have wolf 9mm TMJ and there are a number of cartridges where the bullet is sunk in too deep - it causes double feeds and ejection problems in my SIG I think. I gave one to cbabes to measure we'll see what it comes in at - also, some of these cartridges feel like there is no powder in them!

It was .95". I don't know what powder Wolf used but my Min OAL for my 9mm 124gr reloads is 1.10". I don't have my books with me at work but I don't think any powder used with a 124gr TMJ would have a Min OAL that low. I think you just received a bad batch.
 
Yup, there are bulges in the Wolf 9mm. I had slide fail to return to battery, since my G19 utilize a lonewolf barrel. I compared the barrels on the lonewolf G19 with my factory G17, and compared some of the wolf ammo. I found some of the wolf ammo has larger diameter on the casing. Bulges. The ammo that had casing bulges usually get stuck in the lonewolf barrel, but works fine in the Glock factory barrel.
