Wolf supposedly shot near Edson Alta.

I received this via email today and have no way to confirm it. Supposedly the wolf shot over a bear bait and weighs close to 200lbs. Any info would be appreciated to know if it's a fake or not.

It's been posted before, there's a thread somewhere in this forum about it.

Most people claimed it was PS work, but someone claimed to be friends with the hunter in the pic and said it was a real pic.
 
^ It's real. Story is in the latest issue of big buck magazine and the hunt was filmed. Apparently the hunt will be on Wild TV sometime this year.

The guys that shot it were baiting bear, and a pack of wolves came in. When they saw the size of that one big wolf they forgot about the bear hunt (there was a huge black at the bait at the same time) and shot the wolf.

FYI, it may be the new world record.
 
Pic is at least a year old.... but i would suspect its real,

there are just some massive predator specimans out there...

I saw a massive cougar on the side of the alaska highway a few years ago.. Looked all rugged (northern cat) lots of long grey hair... you could barely see his ears sticking out of all that hair... and he was just waiting patiently for me and a crew of jug hounds to drive past... The sisemic crew was working just down the road and i KNOW they all got a good look at him too.
 
I have seen that picture before and thought it could be photoshopped but if it will be in bick buck and the hunt aired on WILD TV I doubt someone would go through the trouble of altering a photo.

I know there are some huge wolves in the northern foothills (Hinton / Edson up to Grande Prairie).
 
I had this picture emailed to me three times...each one had a different story...the best one had it shot while swimming in a lake after a deer in the water.
 
i assume he got that mounted. funny thats the only pic , are there any other shots of it? it screams photoshop , thats just me being skeptical. the record i heard was in Bulgaria , about 80 kilos. I want to believe , what other evidince is there?
 
Buy the latest Big Buck Magazine, go to pg. 92. There's 2 pictures there and the real story. I wouldn't doubt the size of the wolf. I have seen some that would rival this character.
First I thought it was bear than realized that bears don't have bushy tails. There's definitely some big boys hanging around.
 
i saw this wolf in person...he stopped in at trophy book archery in spruce grove on his way home from the hunt...i was there buying a bow that day

they have a few other shots of it hanging on their wall...it drew quite a crowd in the parking lot

its real...100%....shot over a bear bait near edson is the true story....official weight was 197 lbs and it is being done as a full body mount

hunt can be seen on wild tv on the hunting chronicles show...its a quick clip as the cameraman didnt really get on the wolf till just before the shot...but you get the idea anyway LOL
 
must be plentiful food there in Edson for him to get that huge. I wonder how many hooved guys are save by taking him out.
 
200 lbs

I would imagine it is in the 200lbs range having taken a 179lbs wolf sorry computer illiterate and cannot post pics. It is very easy for a wolf to bulk out especially if he is in front of a bait pile. I am running a snare station for wolves as I type and have already gone through 2500 lbs of bait. If it is a good kill or good bait there is no prblem for a mature wolf to chow down about 50 to 75lbs in a sitting. Nice black wolf unfortunately the fur market makes him almost worthless, but am sure he will rug him out or get him stuffed.
