I put the 9# Reduced Power hammer spring in mine. Didn't bother changing the trigger return spring. Made a huge difference. BUT am now getting the odd light primer strike once in a while. Need to change over to Federal primers.

I've read the 9 lb. hammer spring is for shooters that really want the lightest trigger pull going and don't mind the odd light strike...
The 10 lb. gives you almost as light a trigger pull, especially if you shim the trigger and hammer and do some polishing...and doesn't
have the light strike issues. Does Federal ammo use primers that are more reliable than others, so you can go with the 9 lb. spring
and not have the light strike issue???
 
Federal primers have always been known to require the lightest striking force of all the primer manufacturers. In PPC competition, Federal was the primer of choice after reduced power springs were used in many full house trigger jobs. CCI used to be the hardest but they have "lightened up" in recent years.
 
I have one with lighter springs and one factory. While the lighter springs make the trigger smoother and better, it makes the hammer fall much slower. The lock time is noticeable, and perhaps not desirable.
 
Montey, perhaps try stoking up the pre-load a hair with a small washer or two as packing for the 9#'er. It may just be enough to deal with those odd light strikes.
