Stuck in the middle with you.
As an FYI to folks on all the boards, (HBC BSBC, CGN, etc ): Wolftracker.ca is live. Come and pay a visit. (Put a www. in front, I don't want to live-link without permission)

Four fellow BC hunters put this together as a general information site to help all predator hunters in BC, and hopefully help ungulate hunters and ranchers as a side-benefit. We believe it`s the first of its kind, using actual kills and sightings and Ministry research to make an interactive, Google-Based Map for all to use.
Access is free to most of the site, but due to anti's stealing pics and text and using them against the cause, we restrict access to a few pages. (The Map, Trapping, etc)
Registration is also free, simply please tell us who you are and why you signed up. A user name from any board that's pro-hunting, shooting or trapping would be a great help in keeping out.... *Ahem* undesirables. ;-)
It is small now, in the nascent stages , taking baby steps. If this works well in BC, we might consider a nation-wide scope, and possible inclde more species of predators.
Constructive criticizm is welcome.

I just had a quick peek and it looks very well done, I'll register for sure even if I don't live or hunt in BC. Good job
 
Just signed up same username as this site.

I'm actually working on something similar but for wild boars here in Saskatchewan. Yours is very nice mine is a very simple site (wildboarsaskatchewan.ca) it has alot of work still to go. I've got the map showing working on plotting points.

hoocli, check out Wild Hog Watch on facebook. They are compiling a list like that for Saskatchewan.
 
I don't see any map links Hoodi, only the one main page. Ours was a bugger to set up, and entering data points is brutal, takes all day, especially when someone from 800 miles away gives the local or company name for a road...... *Sigh*

That's because I don't have any links to it yet lol. I have a test site then move progress over to the main when ready.

I`m trying to keep mine simple. I'll most likely let people plot their own points.

NOTES: While most of the site is open and public, certain areas are Password-Protected. Please read the Main Homepage. All you need to know is there. IF you sign up for full access, you go in a waiting queue. THis is so we can determine who you are (i.e> Not an Anti), so while you're waiting for full access, please send an email saying HELLO! to wolfpack@wolftracker.ca describing who you are, where you heard of us, and boards or clubs you belong to etc.
Once you get access to the MAP, you'll notice that it's the same as a GOOGLE Map. You can zoom in, fly around, choose Satellite or Map view etc. If you're interested in one particular sighting, click on it, and a little box pops up that explains the details of the sighting or kill.
If you submitted an entry on any site (CGN, BSBC, HBC, etc) and you DON'T see it displayed, then we missed it. Email the addy above with details and pics, and we'll see your contribution immortalized forever!
It's been a lot of work, and it will only get better. Hope you like it,

Notes: Now that we're caught up on our BC homework: Sightings, tracks and kills from ALBERTA are welcome. (As long as you're CERTAIN it's wolf tracks, sightings and dens)
We want to help all hunters be more successful in hunting predators, and, by extension, ungulates.
It's a labor of love. ;-)

Of course it needs more content but that will come with time. It is well set up for it and you've done a good thing creating that site. I'm going to enjoy wolf hunting vicariously and if I ever get to do it for real I'll get even more out of it.
 
Thx Tooner. Hopefully the Crew and members will be writing some first person hnting accounts this year. Next plan is a Gallery of members with wolves and Coyotes, and we have several entries already.

We've passed the hundred member mark last week, which is cool for a site that's been live for only a few weeks. If you want to sign up, please read the registration info on the main page, and follow the popcorn trail. We hope to really help hunters connect with wolves and coyotes, so any info you have, please sign up and share. Taking out preds helps all hunters and ranchers.
This week I'm going to put a lot more content on the Trapping page.

I couldn't begin to tell you, kill sites would be in the dozens already this spring. Sightings in the dozens as well. Twelve Wood Bison were killed (at minimum, just the ones I found) in one area within two weeks. Found a den too.

I hunt wolves quite a bit and the number one piece of advice I could give isn't where to go, when, etc it's just to find a place with tracks and be out there. Toughest part for anyone wanting to hunt wolves is the time invested, if you have that, you can be successful.

Wouldn't be much help to anyone I'm afraid, more than a couple hundred kms to the nearest public road, and an awful long way from the nearest private goat trail. :)

Would be impossible trying to keep track of sightings and kills up here, it's just a daily thing. Those that really want to hunt them should just head to rivers north of 58 degrees in winter and watch the game trails from downwind. They'll come. :)

Locations and sightings is a down south thing I think for aiding in the hunt, up north of 58 they're just like elusive coyotes.
 
I registered but it won't allow me to log in with password sent to me in the registration email. I wrote the password down , entered it exactly as it is twice, no luck. Copied the password twice and pasted it in, still no luck, it says I have one attempt left. And yes I have my username spelled correctly, I used the same name as on here.
