wolverine is out of surplus portugese... now what?

I know a couple smaller stores in the South Western Ontario had some 2-3 weeks ago, as did a store in Hamilton

The South African would make sense as that is what is available in the US (other than the semi-auto dangerous Indian surplus).

The Portugese has been gone for a long time now. The SA ammo always goes bang, is fairly clean, but is not known for its accuracy.

South African is lovely stuff, but very hard to come by these days, due to the big ammo scandal a couple of years ago. Just about all the SA surplus you see out there was supposed to be demilled, not sold. After the scandal, there was a clamp-down, and the supply dried up.

I'll believe it when I see it, but if I see it, I'll be very, very, happy.

the reason for the SA to be de-milled was????

shoot it at your own risk, I wonder who will carry it.... with any kind of guarentee.........

...ps - the SA was sent for DM cause it was unfit for military use, Nuff Said...

Stop the Hype...

Battle packs from 30 years ago are not the same as this ammo.....

I understand from Williams Arms, ON that they are expecting SA milsurp ammo soon. They may also have some Port .308 ammo available i.e. what I left with them last week :)

The SA surplus that was supposed to be demilled was excess, plain and simple. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. With the end of apartheid in South Africa, the arms embargo the world had imposed on them was relaxed. The new government also no longer felt the need to inventory such enormous quantities of munitions, and directed that stocks now deemed surplus be sold off and destroyed. Instead, most of this ammunition entered the world surplus market, with a lot coming to the US and Canada. This took place with a degree of complicity from SA government officials, hence the scandal.
