Wolverine Supplies & AR180B

ArmaLite AR180B Delivery Update.
The good news is that after an unexpected 5 month delay we have a shipment due to leave the US this week. The bad news is it is only 12 rifles, we need 50! Sorry, there will be a lot of disappointed customers. Warranty parts are due to be shipped on the 12th of this month.

The first 12 customers who have placed deposits will receive the first 12 rifles.

This small shipment has been caused by ArmaLite changing to a threaded on flash hider, this results in a barrel of 18.2 inches which would make her a restricted firearm. ArmaLite will be manufacturing the "old" style barrel for sale in some US States so will have access to them, we are still working on when these will be availabe.

So, does this mean that the rifles coming in are restricted, or are they getting them manufactured with longer barrels? Is it going to be a new model or same as the old one? Also, anyone have any experience with the Molle series rifle cases? They look pretty good and are inexpensive, do you know if Wolverine would be able to import these, and does anyone have any other suggestions as to a similar case that holds an AR and with mag pouches, etc.? (Price doesn't matter) Thanks for any info.
EDIT: Also, does anyone know Molle's website, or of any other models of cases they make other than the rangemaster? Thanks.

from what i read (not that goodly) the barrels are now threaded. 18.2(restricted). but there are some states that don't allow threaded barrels so they are making the old style for these places(like canadians need) but in small batches.

as for the case, just import it yourself. you don't need permits for cases. they are not firearm parts.

Nope... you can check Wolverines News link... they post when they get things; but since only 12 are coming in it won't matter (they'll be gone the next day to the first 12 people on the wait list).

The flash hider doesn't count towards barrel length anyway!?

My only guess would be, to make the threaded barrels Armalite cut a little bit off the end of the barrel and then threaded them, or made a new run of barrels that were a little shorter then the previous ones, making them 18.2" now :(

The rifled portion of the AR180B barrel is 18.25 inches, and therefore too short.

The only reason it isn't resricted is that the muzzlebrake is integral to the barrel and brings it over the 18.5 mark. The threaded AR180B barrels from Armalite are restricted and always will be.

We that have threaded our 180B's have let that extra 1/2 inch of the muzzlebrake material on to keep it legal. Either that or we just keep our mouths shut.

Barrel length is measured to the end of the rifling, not to the end of an integral muzzle brake, counterbore, etc.
So you mean that the non-threaded barreled non-restricted AR180B's have only 18.2" of rifled barrel!? Crazyness!

Aparintly the AR180B was some kind of "exception" cause with any other rifle the barrel is mesured only to the rifleing's end. Somebody musta been having a good day or something. I'm not complaining though.....

That's crazy. I'm not complaining either, just really good about the first batch.

The reason I asked is because I went through all this barrel length crap with the first krinker plinker that was imported. Barrel to the end of the welded on muzzle brake, nope, barrel length to the end of the barrel, nope, to the start of the crown, to the MM, yes, damn. lol.

There is no rhyme nor reason to the decisions made by the clowns in charge. After all didn't someone once register a Dewalt power tool or something like that.

I heard staple gun.

It was a Black and Decker soldering gun.

And ###yglock, yes the AR180B only has 18.25" of rifleing. I think the reason is because it's all one piece. Welding on a flashhider means all you did was added something. With the 180B, it was always there, part of the barrel.

I'd like to register one of thoes ear peircing guns and causually make the comment that is the best thing I've ever shot anyone with. "Yep that's right, always twice...in the head...":D :D :D

You know, AG42B's have an intergraded break too. Mine is measured with the break included...but I did register it my self and never better at the time. Not that it matters as it has barrel to spare.

I believe the CFC made the same interpretation of the STI Stinger ported barrels, since it's a one piece barrel.

Half a day, for me! They were in stock and I live about a hour away, went in the morning paid for it, then waited for the paper work and back home that afternoon.

Ljungman - AG42B is listed in the FaRT as having a 635mm barrel. You might want to check yours and see how this measurement was derived.
