Cheers,

Laid up from hip surgery? Oh man... I know what that's like... got two (yup, TWO of them) hip replacements. Jumping out of perfectly good helicopters when I was young, stupid and invincible.

At least CQB happened in SK last year. AB is planning many CQB matches for next year at Milo Range ; CDTSA (I hope I got that right)

We are gonna have fun. Everyone else get their letter of invite? That's for you out of province dudes..... (from SK, I mean)

Remember to always double that ammo count that I suggested. I have a feeling that we can cycle you guys through since we have a smaller group than say the Milo/CDTSA attendees.... :)

The truck is packed up. JDNix and DB Wil.... your EMT's were successful. Thanks......

Bring on any questions you may have. I might... might have limited internet along the route to Virden, MB from TBay, ON

Cheers,
Barney

Chicken Chef.... that's all I can say....

You Wolverine staffers missed out on the jokes and the company and all the laughs! We had a riot at dinner! Not sure how the Boston Pizza meeting went along. I will find out tomorrow. The grilled chicken and caesar salad was a fabulous meal! I'm most grateful for such a wonderful feed! No Tums tonight... that's for darn sure! ha ha ha ha

Okay, tomorrow we start with shooting on the move... most fun stuff happens after that also! :)

Sleep well, my friends!

See you all at the same time 0830 to 0900

Cheers,

Barney

How bout running one in Thunder Bay on the way back? Know a bunch of guys who would be very interested!

I would love to run one in Thunder Bay, but I cannot plan one that quickly. You see, I deliver an M14 Clinic at The Shooting Edge in Calgary for Saturday 10 Sep and on Sunday 11 Sep, I will be driving BACK east. I'll bunk the night in Virden, MB and the next day, I'm making the drive to TBay and staying with some kind friends. I have to be back home right away since I've got a 2 night stay / turnaround at home before my next CQB gig in Garrison Petawawa for 17-18 Sep. It's a tight time line.

Yeah, if you would like to book a weekend with me in Tbay, we have arrange things almost a year in advance. I have to drive out west with all my butts gear (target supplies), megaphone, and range running kit in my truck. So, I AM planning for next summer's trip, right about NOW....

Cheers,

Barney

So here we are outside Virden, MB at my BnB stay and the depression is setting it (I'm used to it) after the usual joyous ending at the clinics. Often I drive home and I have to watch my tendency to speed while under the influence of all the good times we shared. Now I'm parked here until early tomorrow AM when I drive to Milo area and prepare for their clinic.

All I can say is a warm thanks for all the great fun we shared yesterday and today....

Now: Share ONE thing that went right for you this weekend?

What's your biggest takeaway lesson from this clinic?

Example: Buy quality AR magazines (by chance?)

What did you learn??

Cheers,
Barney

One thing that went right for me this weekend. There were lots of things, the biggest for me was shooting on the move. Something I quite frankly sucked at, with a few tips and tricks, I really enjoy shooting on the move now.
Biggest takeaway lesson, treat everyone like a future McEvoy (think I got the name right, but I did have ear defenders on most of the weekend).
Drive safe Barney, and thanks again. I took a lot more out of the weekend than the 2 points above and if you ever get chance at one of Barney's clinics, DO IT!!!!!!!!!

Barney here: Yeah it's "Molloy"... find the potential in all people you meet (and I try to bring it out in them, sometimes sooner, sometimes 40 years later). And that's how and why HE is my "teacher"...

The biggest thing I learned this weekend is that the mental game is more important than one would think and can be the difference in succeeding or failing.

One thing that went right for me was I found my shake/sway factor and learned how to predict/control it with my breathing.

I had one hell of a time learning from and conversing with you Barney, and thanks too all the guys that came for the laughs and good times, I'm sure I provided a few laughs as well lol.

Cheers

Ryan

Thanks for the great weekend Barney, it was fun and educational . I know what I need for CQB .
Great bunch of guys, hoping for another next year, have a safe trip.

Had a great time.
Things I learned- smooth is fast and simple is smooth.
Get decent gear and make sure it's secure!

During a pistol mag change I ripped my cheapo mag pouch off of my vest and had to shake the hell out of it to get my mag released. Felt like I was shaking my #### trying to get the last drops of pee off.

Day one is slow going, day two pressure mounts!

One heck of a great weekend! I took a lot of info from this clinic. Everything from shooting tips to muscle recovery. Shooting is only one facet of our sport, physical training is definitely a priority as well. Barney is a great instructor and I will definitely attend another clinic of his in the future.

This is how Barney treats his students. lol

I learned a ton of stuff. From getting reloads to a decent speed to concentrating on getting rounds on target.
The biggest thing I took from this clinic is actually how your mind can depict the outcome no matter what. For example I always had problems with quick reloads, as soon as I told myself (many a time throughout the clinic); "Smooth is fast"over and over again I got way faster at reloading. Same thing with having a routine everything we do, leaves all of our brain power to concentrate on the important things.

Well done Barney, I would definitely be coming to the next clinic you a holding in our part o the country. There is a ton more of stuff a guy could learn from you.

CHICKEN CHEF!!!!

Learned Chicken Chef is pretty darn good!

What shadowstang / Blackbird1 say about the mental game is right on. Gear, stances, grips, fancy Norinco HK rifles....means nothing if not focused on the job.
By Sunday was mentally exhausted (not from CQB; worked 5 straight nights before course) - and my head was not where it needed to be. Performance suffered (Frankenstein walk anyone?) but Barney recognized this and helped me re-focus. As well as taking my pissy attitude with a smile.

"Turn adversity into advantage" was Tactical Teacher's mantra for the weekend... and he walks the walk. I will repeat this to myself... as well as:

CHICKEN CHEF!!!

Barney, how can you be the least be depressed knowing that you are headed back to Pet? After all there is no Dany's prime rib out west. Trying like hell to get threw some work, hopefully I can make the next CQB!
