I had an uneventful hunt tonight but ended up face to face (10-12') with what appeared to be 2 wolves. They were significantly larger than any of the coyotes I've ever shot and appeared to have thicker coats as well. This was just west of Lakefield by a couple km. Anyone else running into wolves or coy-wolves around here?

been a few years but..just north of bobcaygeon at our deer camp i got see one ..

I pack a machete for times like this.. Course I never see anything so I only get to read about other people seeing wolves and stuff :p

I work 15 minutes from Barrie. Here I have seen lately, 1 wolf, a black bear and 2 cubs, a pack of coyotes all year round, red fox just 1 hr ago, deer and a report from co workers 3 moose on this 20,000 acres property.

I saw one this past Monday of Hwy 27 just above Schomberg. At first I thought it was a doe(size and colour) before I realized it was a wolf. It was heading towards a flock of sheep. I guess it didn't know there were two llamas with the sheep.

A wolf won't bother you. And if you do see one enjoy it, their gorgeous. I only saw one once and it's still somthing burned into my mind. I was in the mountains with a friend, doing some pre season wandering when I started up a little hill on a path. At once I looked up just in time to see it starting to come down. We saw each other and instantly he spun around. I ran to the top of the hill and when I got there he was standing in front of a beautiful whitetail buck with his antlers down to the wolf. They must have been going at it and when we got there the buck ran the wolf off. When the wolf saw me he ran back up to the waiting buck. When they both saw us each ran off in a different directon, we chased after the wolf. (I wanted a photo, and I kick myself for not having the camara ready to get both the deer and the wolf in the same shot) We did find the wolf a few minutes later. He was sitting on top of a ridge, with his paws over the edge watching and listening to us. I got the picture, but all you could see were two little distant pointy ears.

There's a guy that runs wolf hounds in south west ontario. He gets a few grey wolves a year. I've seen them in his truck. I've also seen on my farm a big grey wolf. 2x the size of the coyotes. I hope to get him this winter

I shot a couple around Stittsville 30 years ago; and I saw one cross Carling avenue near Shirleys Bay last week. They are still around, but rare, I think most have moved past Renfrew because of urban development.

I saw one south of ottawa this past spring when I was turkey hunting.... scared the crap out of me.... it took a long hard look at me head and shoulders sticking out over the top of my blind then scampered off.... I had the 870 ready with safety off... after I bagged my two birds I tried going out after it with my hair bawl but no success....

I seen exactly what the OP was talking about at my farm just east of Toronto, coloured exactly like a yote but far to big and coat to heavy to be a yote. The lady I bought the farm from called them "brush wolves"

I've seen some fairly large yotes out there... And I've come into a timber wolf face to face. A timber wolf is a large animal. But I've often wondered if there is a smaller wolf then a timber wolf in Canada, or a cross breed. Any comments would be interesting to read.

about 5 years ago now I was on my way to work near Putnam (20 mins east of London) and I seen what to this day I still believe had to be a wolf along a fence line. I slowed down and got a good look.... If not it was one damn healthy yote!!!
