Great deer Heather! CONGRATS. Sweet deer and bragging rights for the year! I know how that feels.
And as BIGREDD post says-Women are deadly hunters! My wife really got into hunting in 2004. She spent time at the range with me. She shot her first mulie buck and cow elk that season. She didnt hunt too much last season as she was pregnant and passed on a late season bull moose. But this year she got her first bull moose on the last day morning on Nov.30/06. Two shots(3 shots total but first missed and the bull stood still) from her Tikka T3 LS 270WSM with Leupold VX3 3.5-10x40 B&C reticle scope (using the Harris bipod this year) with 140gr Accubonds behind the LF shoulder-double lung-complete pass thru @ about 325m. This was only her 3rd day out hunting this year.
Another pic with me too!
My only beef I guess is like the mooto when fishing " You catch them - You Clean them!" Ah, I guess its ok! LOL
To say the least I'm, very proud and happy, as we now have meat for the year. Plus the part she likes the most is she has bragging rights (she is so COMPETITIVE with me! She now said she will not take a whitetail unless its bigger than my biggest on the wall-so she better be looking in the mid 180's BC) as I went the season without shooting any big game-just a few grouse.
This was only by choice I should say in my defense as I passed on a 5x5 bull elk on the opening day of rifle -late afternoon hunt called in under 20 metres b/c my brotherinlaw and another hunting buddy seen 2 bigger 6x6's. Excuses , excuses! But in my defense again I did take out a friend that missed out on moose camp with us in October -out in mid November elk hunting and he got a beauty 6x6 bull elk-his first bull ever.
So I guess this season I was a better guide. So if I'm this good of a guide for my wife and buddy, I can't wait to take our son hunting to pass on my knowledge and hunting ethics/values to him, but thats a couple years down the road.
Keep up the good work Heather. Hope to see you still have bragging rights next season. NOT!! Its your husband's turn!! Just teasing. LOL
