Won't break the bank? Am I in the right place?

I'm new, not sure where to introduce myself yet, and I fear this site might not be the right home for me.

Saying that rimfire won't break the bank might be universally true discussing the cost of ammo. But my interest is ISSF target shooting rifles and standard, rapid, and free pistol shooting. Those guns WILL break the bank.

Was lucky to find a local club that is inexpensive to join, doesn't require a PAL to shoot the club rifles once you're a member, and has pistol shooters as well for once my RPAL application is finally processed.

I'm finding the members very friendly and helpful. But... Some of the advice I'm getting is very, let's say, "old fashioned". Of the "common sense" variety that when looked up doesn't hold to the science of the issues.

Or, for weapons rests heavily on the very old experience of the members and not what is perhaps the best on the market today for starting target pistols or bolt-action sport rifles.

This is as good a place as any, although honestly there are probably more plinkers and "tactical" 22 shooters on here than ISSF shooters. I like target rifle matches, although around here (Nova Scotia) we do primarily Sporting Rifle Class, which is a Shooting Federation of Canada (SFC) classification and not a ISSF classification. The SFC is the National Sporting Organization that governs ISSF shooting in Canada so a good place to start would be the SFC website, which would help you identify matches in your area.
