Wood AR furniture

Anyone out there using wooden furniture on their AR 15? I didn't even know it was an option haha.

As a shameless wood whore, I'll admit I looked into this once.

Price, availablilty and weight negated it for me, but I do like the look, goofy as it may seem to some people.

I don't think they could pick an AK out of a line up. It's the 'name' of the gun that scares them.

I would be really tempted to add wood to my precision AR.....if they had a wood free float rail. Basically it would have to be an aluminum one with wood added on the outside.

I do kind of like to look. Not practical but nice.

As I understand it, the wooden handguards are very prone to cracking/splitting due to the necessary design. As such, most makers abandoned the idea as not being practical. If you want to kit one out as a wall hanger, sure, but for a practical working rifle it is a non-starter.
